Hey CB, what's the hat on your avatar?

:eek:fftopic: That my friend is a custom job done by Mike Moore (majormoore) Of Buckaroo Hatters. Sinince he is the artist I call it The Major.

The Major took my Stetson el Presidente Silverbelly and made that beautiful hat. It is my favorite. Really accentuates my attributes in a way that no other hat does.

After searching the Lounge and looking at hundreds of photos I have yet to see another like this one that came in a little size 7 velour Bosalino that I bought today.
Have any of you fella's seen one like it? It's got that "belt" hanging down from the bottom of the crest, almost like a Scottish Clan badge.

"G.B. Fu Lazzaro" is related to the "regular" Borsalino, but not the same company. Hence the different design.

The US Patent office shows that became a registered trademark 1-20-76 and was canceled 6-15-82. It shows the owners as being the same as the regular Borsalino. Mineral may right that they were two separate entities, I sure don't know.

CV - Your patent info would explain the 1970s-looking G.B. Borsalinos that we see every now and then. I mentioned here previously that I thought it might be a tribute line that Borsalino did, since G.B. Borsalino was merged into their company back in the '30s, but got no responses.

:) The liner is out of hat that looks 1970's for sure! Thanks, the hat will probably be back on ebay, or at least in the Classifieds as soon it arrives in the mail.

Live and learn.

Cookie that was suggested, but, I would have been self conscious.
Now I will ask a question I hope no one else reads because then it will confirm I am an idiot...

I was watching this. It may be a new record. $ 306.99 plus $ 10.00 shipping!
(And I've got one just like it in a 7 3/8!) :)

Interesting. When she pulled the auction the first time, I told her I had a $180 snipe in, and she offered to sell it to me. I would have gladly paid it if I could have been sure it was a true 7 1/4, but vintage Borsos of this style vary too much - I only really trust the 7 3/8's now. On the other hand, just bought a Bulgarian Trionfo 7 1/4 that's a touch above that (my size :)).

Looks like I have to chalk this one up to my inexperience. I actually sniped it when it was at around $150. Problem is someone else did the same. My max was around 10 bucks higher. I really never dreamed it would be much over $200 but.....

I also didn't know aout the size issue even thogh I have been lurking here for a while. Now I'm worried.

You live and learn I guess.

Mark, be sure to give us photos and a follow-up, when it arrives. You may have nothing to worry about. :)

I will do that. I think I need a few more posts to be able to post pictures but I am working on it.

Agreed. It's always a crapshoot buying hats on ebay, but if your head is close to an exact size, you have a better chance of success than many of us. I still wear my Akubra every time there's a rainstorm, hoping it will eventually shrink down to my head size!

I snatched this modern Borsalino off a thrift store shelf. I found it comfortable so I took it. Cost 15 euros.

The hair is quite long, not sure what felt it is though..

Says in the tag, water resistant felt.
