My favorite smell from this time of year is the smell of bushels and bushels of chiles being roasted in large ,wire cage, gas-fired roasters. I drove out to my favorite farm last week to get my annual bushel. Nothing like it in the world.

Smoked (American) Bacon in the skillet just before it's done.

Coffee, immediately upon waking.

The barrel house at the Jack Daniel's Distillery in Tennessee.

The central heat in my house the first time it's fired up in the fall.

Puppy breath.

Vicky's hair.

This time of year I start my fall and winter dietary regimen so the smell of spice and cooking food wafts through the air.
Breads, ethnic dishes and stews together with stir fried pignoli nuts and sesame seeds.
My fire place spreads the smell of burning wood.
The air is then punctuated with the scent of patchouli.

Oh and Coffee. :coffee:

I love patchouli. I wore some to my daughter's wedding this past weekend. :)

I also love the smell of freshly laundered sheets, spaghetti, roast beef cooking in the oven, roses, coffee, Nick, vanilla, gin, amaretto, sandalwood, freshly baked bread, hot mulled cider, musk oil, candied apples, cotton candy, cucumbers, rye toast, pears, lemons, fried onions, and herbal essence shampoo (I don't use it but I love the smell of it lol ).

**update: I too like the smell of freshly cut lumber, leather and horses. I also love the smell of maple flavored bacon, old books, garlic, kettle corn popcorn, orange marmalade and that smell you smell outside from the dryer vent.

**update 2: Nick's list.lol lilac tree, roses, smell of Thanksgiving dinner, coffee, patchouli, freshly cut lumber, Nora, vanilla, oranges, fresh baked cookies, Christmas trees, hickory smoked wood, bourbon, the smell of the first snowfall, rain on hot asphalt, rich soil, mountain air in the Spring, cloves, cinnamon, and pineapple upside down cake.

I do enjoy the smell of lilac and gardenia's in bloom, as I've had family growing them off and on for years, and finding the flowers elsewhere makes me think of them. I also like the smell of leather, meat on the grill, freshly mowed lawn, cedar, wood burned in a campfire, popcorn, sauce made from burgundy wine, the rain, the ocean, pine trees, half and half pipe tobacco (grandpa smokes it), a good cigar, blueberry muffins, caramel, coffee, and the subtle hints of a man's cologne.

Sandalwood and Patchouli are wonderful - I agree with those that like it.

While I don't drink coffee in the morning, the smell has a nice cozy feeling.

Lilac is calming.

Lemon Balm/Melissa is cheerful to me.

And I love Bergamot - the smell of Earl Grey tea. :D
