It's like pulling teeth, talking to you.
But... you seem to be slowly getting the fact that these images have been
purposely treated to appear as if they're from that era(and very well, I might add), which Fleur is dressed for.
They DO look vintage- it would take a clever person to make them look more vintage correct.
And I don't think you could guess what camera was used.

Then let's just drop it. To me, they look like good modern attempts at vintage-looking photographs. I agreed it would be hard to make them look any more authentic without using a vintage camera and film or making them monotone, which would waste the great colors in the picture. That's why I originally said, "Someone with greater Photoshop skills than myself" should attempt it. I could fairly easily make it look old in monotone, but it would take an extremely skilled person to do so while retaining the color. To me it seems like we're saying about the same thing, but apparently not. My original comment also included Miss Hannah's pictures. I looked at the clothing, makeup, poses, and even backdrop and concluded that with minor modification they would be so close as to be nearly indistinguishable from actual vintage photos. I meant it as a compliment. Heck, I even said that both ladies were "picture perfect", and they are.

Upon further inspection (my original comment was made after a quick look at both ladies' pictures) I even admitted that if I had stumbled upon Fleur's shots somewhere else on the internet, I may not be sure they weren't vintage. I practically agreed with you when I said that, unless I'm completely mistunderstanding what you're saying.

I find it fun to drop snaps into Poladroid. That'll get you back to the 1960s. Any further back and you're on your own.

I appreciate this is not germane to the thread or recent posts. But it's good fun.

my coworker (the one in the photo) uploaded the rest of the pictures from the other night so i figure i'd post one where i am actually wearing the same hat :

The suit actually doesn't fit me completely right so i only wear it when i wear an overcoat, its just one of my more casual handed down suits that i can wear without worrying too much about. this one (and a few others that night) were just sort of taken when werent' expecting it, hence i still had my hat on, my hands up in the air and the food in my hand, and that dopey grin.

Id have to agree partially with both of you BT and Lamplight. To me, Fleurs photos are very well done, stylish and colourful, but I would not mistake these for a vintage photo if I had found it on its own having no background context. I know they are digital photos. Im sorry but there is a distinct difference between film and digital. But thats me personally.

However, when I look at Kodachrome photos from the 1940s, I could easily mistake them for modern prints. Have a look:

However, photographers do exist that CAN get the right time period in modern times. Gregory Crewdsons work is a prime example. Here is a photo of his from the last decade, shot to look like the 1970s of Anywheresville, USA. The guy is a master, and he also uses a 8x10 large format film camera.

Again, this is my opinion on the matter. Im not taking either side really, and at the end of the day, Fleurs photos look great.

Thanks! It is a full coat, tea length, very A line/swing coat cut. The set was a fabulous antique store find.
