it is part of a dressing table binkie - a fantastic recent addition that i got for an absolute song! - $50!!!!- 40s, barrel drawer & solid walnut - my boudoir dream! (by the way, i've finally a day off so i'll take a trip to the post office & get those shoes off to you today!)

I really never know if colors clash or look good together. :eusa_doh: So thank you Will! It was a beautiful day so I also wandered around in circles through Central Park.

And thank you too Gene! I'm sure the poor lighting adds to it, but I find it hard to capture how a suit is cut, and this one is just too great!

Mike, allow me to "second" everything:
1.) On a technical level: thanks for all the shots: you are providing details for all of us
2.) The 'stache becomes you.
3.) Looking sharp in general ... but you knew that! Great suit. Superb pocket square.

I took a gamble on the sizing as they're raw (so shrink-to-fit) and they are still probably a little looser than they could be, but I think that helps give a little more of a vintage look. That sounds good. I have a couple of pairs of Prison Blues, and they're superb, though I'm also interested in other options too. I must have a scan on those - also looking at the 40s-style jeans on offer from www.sofmilitary.co.uk in their reenactor catalogue. Wider in the leg is always good..... something not so many years ago (well, okay, twenty years ago now! ) I would have been shocked to hear myself say.... lol

Today is a tweed day for me.... Suit (no labels) I picked up on eBay in a mid-green tweed. Trousers are a touch neater on the thigh than I would tend to go for, but not uncomfortably so; the jacket is a 42R and a neat cut over the shoulders - less roomy than I would be used to but actually a very comfortable fit - nice high armholes too. Overall, I suppose its more contemporary than anything, but it puts me in mind of a late 50s slimline suit, before the sixties came in and characateured the look. Wearing it with a tattersall shirt and square-ended, wool-knit tie in a scarlet colour flecked with blue, bright red, yellow and green. Goes superbly with the shirt, IMHO. Pocket square is a white and scarlet cotton affair. Paired with this today is my trusty Akubra Fed Deluxe MK III in brown (with my attempt at the 'idol grab' bash). Today's outerwear also features a double layered, heavy and unfringed white silk scarf, and a German military overcoat. I have no idea of the age of the coat.... it was sold on eBay as "WW2 German uniform coat reproduction", though I have a suspicion it could be a 1950s original Wehrmacht piece. Either ay, it's a beautifully cut coat with a very 30s vibe (to my eye, at least), in a darkish-mid grey with a greeny undertone, and a collar a few shades darker. I am very fond of this coat at present - you would think it had been tailored for me, so good is the fit. I am loving the high button stance too - sitting down on public transport without having to constantly unbutton is a nice bonus. That it only cost me GBP25, including postage, and is completely 'as new' (whether repro or later surplus, it is clearly unissued and I am inclined to believe the auction description that stated it had been worn only once, "for fancy dress").

No photos, alas.... I really must train the cats in the used of my digicam! (Darnit, if there was foot in it, I'm certain they'd figure it out...).

I think you're authentic and adorable! Love how you took a modern style and added the collar to make it look quite vintage. The floral adornment is very flattering, too.
