Finally, my first "real" fedora!

It's finally here! After searching site after site and looking at hat after hat, here's the one I picked out, a Dobbs St. Lucia in pearl. I wondered about the ribbon maybe being a bit too "pimp" for lack of a better term but every time I saw this hat it caught my eye and then I found this color on sale for $80 at Hats Plus.

Alright guys, I need brutal honesty here...

I like it. The ribbon interest and color on the pearl hat allow it to be versatile with several other clothing colors. Looks good to me.

And...welcome to the Lounge!

I'd call that ribbon fun - not too pimp in my eye. It looks good on you.

I'd wear a hat like that.

Welcome to the Lounge, Mr. Smith. :D

I have to be honest...if you had just described the ribbon I would'nt have been a fan, but after seeing the picture it is pretty clear that it really works. I really like it and would wear such a hat myself.:eusa_clap

Me, I am very traditional. I don't care for the ribbon, but if you like it, that is important. But on top of that, it is a fine hat, and if you decide you are tired of the ribbon, you can always get a new one put on. I do like the hat very much.

I dig it. A lot. But then, my stylistic preferences happily accommodate a touch of pimp. I don't find that ribbon even close to "too much." I'd wear it to the Kiwanis luncheon.

Yah...

And on further analysis I think that ribbon ends in a pug and not a bow. ?

Mr. Smith. What say you?

yes i was gonna ask about the bow or lack there of myself. the hat looks good on you , if it is a pug as i suspect it is ,
it sort of relaxes the fedora and makes the ribbon work.
Maybe not in the boardroom but its not beach wear ether.
A very nice crossover of a kind i haven't seen before.
Plus you wear it like you were born in it.
in short, thumbs up and welcome to the lounge.

Can't say for sure because I'm new to this and haven't heard that terminology but since I don't see a bow I assume it is a pug? The ribbon kinda crosses over itself and there's a little Dobbs carriage pin there? I did immediately pull the feather out - ha!

Thanks for the compliments guys! My wife digs the look and I'm digging the look, and I always heard that if you think you look good you can pull off most anything! I got this lid thinking it would go with anything along with khakis or jeans, and I'm on the lookout for a "dress" hat now, I can see where this is gonna be pretty addictive!

Be on the lookout on e-bay. It's an endless source of nice vintage hats, and some not so nice ones that you can pick up cheap for everyday wear.

And it is very addicting. I don't have much money as a student, so that's a bit of a built in regulator, but if you have no such restrictions, you're going to find it very tough to control yourself. As will I in a year or two.
