I like to be reminded of what pants/ capris/ jeans looked like back in the day: the fit (tight or loose), the cut (length and waist), the cloth/ pattern, how they looked depending on the girl's body type who wore them, and the top and shoes she chose to wear with them.

I bought some vintage, new w/out tags jeans listed as being from the '40s, but I'm having trouble figuring out how to wear them! :( This photo you posted is closest to what I think they are supposed to look like worn! I will definitely try cuffing them up.

I think my biggest problem is that I bought them to fit my waist, which is now a little loose (yay, losing weight!), and now the hips/butt area looks absolutely cavernous. Should I alter? Because it's non-stretch cotton, the extra room makes them super comfortable to sit and/or move around in, but it seems a little excessive. I know vintage pant styles were made to be worn with foundation garments (so there's a big difference between the hip and waist measurement), but this is a tad bit ridiculous. The girl who was meant to wear these had a serious booty!

I'm about to order some Utility jeans from Freddie's and was wondering - I have the classics in a 28" and they are too big all over - not flattering at all. My waist IS 28" sometimes 29", but they are just too large. Do you girls thing I should order the 26" in the Utility jeans? Does anyone have a pair of these?

I just got a pair of the Freddie's red blue jeans from my fella for Christmas. I love them!

I imagine my fella got them in a 28. Right now I'm about 28-39, so they're quite snug in the hips and butt, but like Smutty commented, they're a bit big in the waist.

I imagine the real solution to this is to get the pair that fits your hips and then take them to a tailor to have the waistband taken in. I have a friend who does this with all of the jeans she buys. She says it doesn't cost too much, and she ends up with jeans that don't gape and that look like they were made for her.

I always get my jeans to fit my hips first. I got the relaxed fit for the hip/thigh area. If the waist is too big. It's a simple nip at the waist from the tailor. You don't want a high waisted jean to be too tight in the waist, you need to be able to sit! When they arrive, i PROMISE to post pictures. and if i don't you can come here and beat me. I also plan on doing a full review for my bloggy blog when they come! Stay tuned...

My Freddies of Pinewood arrived. They are a full size smaller than Vivien of Holloway jeans. I haven't decided if I want to return or sell them or try to drop the 10-15lbs needed to fit into them.

yikes - i'm scared now - mine haven't arrived - what size/color did you order??

I ordered the overalls in a 38, which is bigger than my waist (i'm a 34/36 depending on the day, haha), so they would fit my hips.

I ordered the black classics in 38, which should have exactly fit my waist and been a little loose through the hip. I could barely pull them on, very snug through the thigh and hip, and can't zip them up at all. Now that I'm back to non-holiday eating, the Viviens that I bought from you fit perfectly.

Well - let me know if you do decide to sell. They might be right up my alley. I've been holding trying to decide whether to order the overalls anyway. Just pm me if any of you girls have fit issues and we'll chat.

Mine arrived yesterday but I haven't had the chance to upload the photos. I really like them but it's pretty laughable how many times I have to cuff them (as a first time time customer Freddie's would only shorten the inseam 2") and, looking at goldwyn girl's picture of her in her jeans, the crotch on mine are def a little baggy, but I'm guessing that's part of being 5'4".

No, it just means you don't have them pulled up high enough. I'm 5'3" and mine sit perfectly in the crotch.

I'm 5'10 and my jeans fit perfectly. Will get my mom to take my picture tonight. They fit perfectly! they are comfortable and make my waist look teeny tiny. I for sure will be ordering more at some point. They are great pants! well worth the money!
