I TOTALLY agree! I have found it is very hard to effectively shampoo my head if a hat is worn in the shower.
I also have found that my creases get bashed and my bashes get creased if I lay down to sleep without first removing my hat.
When riding a bicycle it is advised to remove hat as the bike helmet will crush one's hat.
I had my teeth cleaned the other day and the hygienist was having hard time dealing with a wider brimmed western hat I was wearing so I found removing one's hat for dental chair is advised.
I have left it on for barber's visits but the haircut didn't suit me too well. Removing hat for barber is up to you since the haircut you get if hat is left on may please you.

Ha! Some funny stuff.

I was a college freshman in 1977, when my grandmother sent me some money for a hat that I wore constantly and called my favorite for many years.

The late '70s was the nadir of the hat--pimps excepted--and so, with the exception of a Texan who rarely wore his wide-brimmed Stetson there in Atlanta, I was the only guy on campus with a lid. Consequently, I stood out. People I'd never met referred to me as The Guy With The Hat.

Though hats are more prevalent now than then, they are still quite the exception.

So, the cool thing about wearing a hat is that people notice you.

That's not always a good thing!

Nope! That's another cool thing about wearing a hat. You can wear a hat however you like...with or without different accessories.

Wow, great response. Now a little backstory.

I was discussing an upcoming gig with our manager when she asked me what hat I was going to wear to the gig.

I said it didn't really matter because I always remove my hat when I play.

She said "Yeah I noticed, what's up with that?"

To which I replied, "The great thing about always wearing a hat is that you don't always have to wear a hat."

Just by virture of wearing it to the gig, you've already made a statement.
No need to ruin the hat with sweat while rockin' out on stage. Besides, the hat looks really cool sitting on top of my amp.

The cool thing about wearing a hat is that no matter what you wear, a hat always makes you look dressed up.

When I'm looking for less attention, I simply wear a different type of hat. Caps or even baseball caps attract much less overt attention.

Often I do this if I am running late for class...

Wearing a hat is like the whipped cream & cherry atop a great outfit. You look OK without it, but with it, it just gives the entire look the finishing touch, the little extra pizazz that stands out.

And if you DO show up somewhere without a hat, it's immediately noticed. "Hey - no hat today? What's up?" And at times, it's a good thing to be able to go a little incognito, to slip in under the radar by blending into the hatless crowd.

I quite frankly have grown to actually dislike going out without a hat, especially in any season other than hottest summer, perhaps. I even wear a hat inside the house, except when there's visitors. Other than that, I do follow the usual rules of etiquette pretty much to the dot, question of style.

Just gives me a sense of security in that crazy old world. Like wearing a seatbelt in a vehicle. Okay not really a good comparison, but it does feel nice.

The coolest thing about wearing a hat is how complete strangers will remember or recognize you upon seeing you a second time - even if you don't remember them.

Happens to me often enough. Guy walked up to me the other day and said, "I have to say, I really like your selection of hats." Can't say if I had ever noticed him around before, and I doubt I could point him out to you now.
