My new Stetson Royal DeLuxe homburg came in yeaterday evening. It is in excellent condition and with just a light steam and brush it is fabulous. The oilskin in the top was completely deteriorated and in crumbles in the bottom of the box, and that had caused some slight fleck staining on the liner, but otherwise, perfect!

That is one beautiful hat,Paladin. If that hat was a woman past the age of consent I would....well you get the picture.

Nobody will mess with a man in a Homburg...and if they do you`re packin` heat so it is a moot point. ;)

The vintage Resistol fedora I recently bought is very "homburgish" now that I am looking at all these examples;she has a higher crown(seems that way to me) than I expected on an old school stingy brim fedora.hmmmm....

My Homburg Collection

I have finally gotten around to getting all my homburgs out of the boxes at once and photographing each one in the same venue. I have not figured out how to make those nice neat little displays like mayserwegener and billysmom though, so they are big.....and, here they are:

Very good! Show them when you can! Of mine, my favorites are the three Stetsons and the Hall & Hall. I love the wider, flat brims; then again, the color on the Borsalino is very nice. If I could just find a Stetson in that color....:)

Here is my Adam Homburg. Got it on ebay a while ago, the description said, "A couple of factors strongly suggest that this handsome old black homburg by ADAM HATS must date to the 1930's. For one thing, the wide tan leather sweatband is unreeded, that is, sewn directly to the felt without an intermediate reed, or welt, and there is no vertical stitching at the back where the ends meet. And look at the very early style of the Adam imprint inside the crown: the notched circle design is a blatant copy of the design Stetson was using in the 1930's, right down to the words SUPERB QUALITY in the same place where Stetson would have said SELECT QUALITY."
It came from the seller rilico and from what I here he knows his stuff. If anyone can verify I would appreciate it.
Anyway, on to the pics

Its in good condition except for the sweatband coming off at the front and back. Its still attached to the sides.

Great specimen, meyserwegener. A great addition to your collection of classics!

Wolfen, nice Adam! Interesting comparison info with Stetson marketing as well.

I`m still working on my hat spotting skills so...Here are some pics of a hat billed as a Homburg but I think it`s a just a fedora with a center crease(?).Also lacks the rigid, uptuned brim of a Homburg. What kind of hat is it? I don`t think I`ve seen fedoras with a center crease.
Thanks!

Yes you are correct. That is a standard Fedora (over welt, 2 inch brim, 4 or so inch crown).

You will also see open crown Homburgs marked as Bowlers.

This Wegener Colonel has a Homburg like look but can also be snapped down.

That clarifies things a bit for me.Thanks,meyserwegener. I`m learning that what I think are "rules" may often be guidelines or gerneralities. So the defining factor on a Homburg seems to be the brim and maybe a higher crown?

That Wegener Colonel does look Homburgish in the crown. My Resistol has a rather non-fedora look about the crown when viewed straight on from the front--you don`t see the front pinches against the dark brown color.I never noticed how different views/angles can affect the appearence of a hat you are wearing.Maybe that`s just me getting used to seeing myself wearing a hat? :D

Thanks again!
