I don't see any instructions on the "signature" page in the User CP that indicates there is any restriction.

I don't know about all that - I just want to know why mine was singled out. How many more have experienced this?

Did he say why it had to be removed? Maybe because you are listing your Etsy stuff on the main page?

This brings up a point I’ve been itching to discuss: Vintage safety glasses. I can’t wear goggles over my prescription eyewear because of fogging problems, so I’ve been thinking about grabbing a pair of vintage safety glasses off eBay and having them refit with polycarbonate prescription lenses. Anybody see a problem with this?

Seems like it would sure beat working in my old man glasses.

As long as the lab will do it, I don't think it's an issue. You could actually pick any pair of vintage frames and do the same.
