What powder, foundation..

I second-and-third Bare Escentuals and True Match. I use them for pretty different effects, and use the True Match (I'm a C1 too!) it two layers when I'm really going for the perfect doll-like look.

Being that I have pretty rough skin, BE is awesome for every day, but I do wish it was the kind of thing that could be put in a cute, retro (or even attractive) compact.

For those of you who like powder, I just have to take a moment to gush about Caron. They have the loveliest loose and pressed powders, and for us pale people, they offer very light shades! Caron started making powders in 1939, and the packaging still has a bit of a vintage feel to it. I can also highly recommend their swoon-worthy swan's down powder puffs, though they are on the expensive side (but so glamorous!).

Lenore, have you tried anything from Honeybee Gardens? I've just ordered some samples from them, and they have just very recently released a pressed powder foundation which might work with your allergies. My samples (lipstick and cleanser) arrived in the mail today, so I will report back with what I think of them, but they are an all-natural globally conscious small company, which makes me feel better about supporting them. I was just looking at Caron's website today. I can't seem to find where they sell it though, and I'm a bit confused on what colors they offer in pressed powder. I found it on a beauty bargain site, but am still not sure what color! I'd love to try it!

Can you refill the compact?

The one downside is that the boutique in New York is the only place to purchase in the U.S. (at least as far as I know). I placed my order over the phone, though I do wish they'd offer online shopping. Diane, the store manager, is very helpful and sent me several samples so I could figure out what shade would be best. I'm pretty sure that the compact is refillable (at least I hope it is!).

I use different things, depending on my mood and what my skin looks like! I like Bare Escentuals a lot, although I am almost out... not sure if I want to get another tub (it took me almost four years to use up the last one!). For extra coverage, a good coating of moisterizer, then some Max Factor Pan Stik (in mourning... ) and either the BE veil or Coty Airspun (again, depending on my mood and whether I want the fragrance). I also sometimes like the Boots liquid foundation, but it seems a tad orange for my very pale face.

I just bought my 1st coty airspun powder ,YAY!

I bought it off ebay as it's the only place i've been able to find that will send it to Australia.
I can't wait to try it!I just got the translucenrt shade as it was hard to tell which shade was best for me.Hopefully it works for me as well as it does for most of the ladies on here

I was thinking of using a max factor panstick foundation underneath the powder,can anyone please tell me if this is a good choice?

Was the postage expensive? I'd like to try it, but am always put off by the cost of postage.
You can still buy Max Factor panstick in Australia, but I have found that the shades are too dark for my pale skin.

Wow your only about an hour from me,i'm in bathurst!
Postage was 7.95 U.S.It varies from seller to seller but there are quite a few on there at present selling it you just have to find the best deal.There was actually another seller that was a bit cheaper but i missed that one.I wanted to get it before my hubby & i go away for a weekend in a few weeks,actually we are going to the blue mountains,so i just bid on the next cheapest.

The only Honeybee Gardens products I have tried were the eyeshadows, but they were lovely. Really nice creamy formulation, long lasting.

Well, crud, I totally forgot to post reviews of the Honeybee Gardens products! Thanks for the reminder, Puzzicato! I really really liked all the stuff I got from them. The lipstick was creamy and wore well, with no odd smells or tastes. The cleanser has earned a place of honor in my shower, and I especially love it after a workout, since it's peppermint scented. I also tried the hydrosol spray, which was nice, but the scent isn't for me. Shipping was fast and communication good. I will definitely order from them again!

I myself don’t use foundation. Just concealer on scars, and mineral powder. I quite like Bare Minerals – Mineral Veil, available in SPF, and also their Multi-tasking concealer. I use other powders sometimes, whiter ones. But the above are best for sensitive skin.

For about a year now I have been using the Veil from The All Natural Face on Etsy. I just buy the refills and press them into my vintage compact.
Since I've been using it I get tons of compliments on my skin. I even had one lady grab her daughter and say "See, this is why I've been telling you to take care of your skin!" Granted they were both drunk lol
Anyhow, I can' t get enough of their veil and its a small business, which is always a plus!

For day wear I really love Estee Lauder Lucidity. Ive been using it for years and its a perfect colour match for me.

I did use to use a wonderful compact foundation from Shiseido that was one of those "powder to cream" sort of affairs. It was really good and gave a powdery, pale, full coverage that was perfect for night time. I dont know if they still make it though.

Oops, I was wrong. The Mineral Veil doesn’t have SPF, but the foundation powder does. I bought it at lunch time, will let you know how it is!

Star-quality foundation and powder at an affordable price

Foundation: Sally Hansen’s Natural Beauty line, inspired by Carmindy.

All of the products in this line are absolutely incredible, but I’m particularly fond of their superb foundation called 'Your Skin'. It’s truly amazing! Coverage is buildable (medium to full), and the consistency is lovely (sort of a creamy, whipped liquid that glides on smooth and velvety and leaves a perfect, semi-matte finish, which means you can skip the powder, if you prefer). Although coverage is impeccable, it feels weightless on the skin, not heavy and mask-like, and it’s quite long-lasting, requiring few (if any) touch-ups. I appreciate that it’s paraben- and talc-free, and includes skin-smoothing natural ingredients and antioxidants…I’ve noticed an improvement in the look and feel of my skin since I’ve worn it. The shades are very nice, as well, and they have two very pale, light shades which I love—Porcelain and Ecru Beige. One of the distinctions I’ve noticed in this foundation is that it photographs extremely well. I can’t rave enough about this foundation, and I’ve literally tried them all (including all of the high-end department store offerings). Nothing comes close to 'Your Skin'.
