This would make such an awesome winter dress in dark green wool with brown buttons! I can totally see you in it, DPD.

I just hope all the pieces are there.

Also, after loosing that pinafore a few weeks ago, I grew curious about them. Then I won this one for less than $8 woo hoo!

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the best place for this question, but since it deals with the purchase of vintage patterns, I figured it was as good a place as most. Bartenders feel free to move this if it would be best served elsewhere.

Periodically, I run across vintage patterns at estate sales. Usually, in these instances, I do not have the opportunity to check to see if they are complete. The ones in my size I don't have much of a question about, I usually buy them, but I have qualms about leaving behind the ones that aren't. Sometimes they are obscenely inexpensive ($1 or less). I just wondered whether you girls ever had such issues, or what insights you have, or rules you follow?

This weekend I left behind a 1940's Simplicity blouse because all that was left was the envelope and the directions, but I feel bad about it, because I fear it will end up in a landfill somewhere... Any thoughts??

Incomplete patterns

Hi Joie,

Whenver I buy patterns at vintage fairs I know there's a possibility that the pattern won't be complete. When I pay $15-30 for a pattern I go to a specific seller and I know they are complete. However when I go to another seller I know there's a risk they won't be complete and they're usually in not as good condition but I'm paying $3-5. I've found the envelope to be useful.I'm working on drafting patterns off of the mini on the envelope. I haven't done much with it but I know other people have been successful.

Hi Joie! Those incomplete patterns sound like they would be very useful at Pattern Rescue. At least you don't have to worry about them ending up in a landfill, or crowding your basement.

I love that Redingote pattern, I think I saw that same pattern on eBay about 2 weeks ago. Wanted to bid, but the price went higher than I can afford.:(
I Got this one in the mail yesterday.

Thanks to the Etsy links, I picked up both Hollywood patterns from New Vintage lady. I just finished the skirt from Hollywood Pattern 1169:

I'm keeping an eye out for a nice vintage print for this lovely dress:

I also have a box full of Folkwear Patterns.

I'm off to look for patterns for a full slip...

I've always liked this pattern! I saw it cheap and in my size so I pounced.

REALLY happy about this one. I had it in my favorites for a while and was mulling it over, and then it disappeared (I can't remember if it sold and I removed it or what). A little while ago it randomly popped back up and I knew I had to get it.
