Ordered the diagonal last weekend from PB in a 3" brim. Robert is supposed to have it sent directly to Art Fawcett for the blocking and ribbon work. In a society of instant gratification waiting for a fine hat is very humbling.

I was wondering if you fellas thought I could get away with putting a "relaxed" cattlemen crease in a panama? After seeing the side view of the "Custom Hat Works, Monte Christi" up the page it got me thinking. I have been putting off buying the panama version of an "open road" for a year or two now because I prefer a shorter crown, and I have read that they put a lot of stiffener in the hat.

Terrible iphone photo. It's a PanamaBob. I don't remember how many wpsi, but it's pretty high. I count 14 vueltas.

From when it was new, six years ago.

Graham at Optimo blocked it. I don't know if he blocks anybody else's bodies these days, but he did it for me six years ago.

Worth & Worth New Hampton

Almost two weeks ago, I posted about ordering a New Hampton like Aureliano's, from Worth & Worth in NY. I got the hat just about a week ago, but just now got around to taking a photo of it to put up. So, without further ado, here is my new straw for the summer months of 2010...

The one I posted previously in this thread is from the 40's or early 50's. I'm unsure if the tag has foil laminated on it or not.

Thanks for the kind words Aureliano and RBH! It's a very nice hat. I'm pretty particular about straws, as I still overall am very partial to my felts. I just can't wear them in the summer, and seem to always be on a constant mission to find the best straws for fur felt replacement during the heat.

I can't see the third picture, but the first two are Cuenca hats, Brisa weave.

Even my friends in Montecristi can't wait to sell inferior product to los cruceros. They pawn off cheap Cuenca hats are Montecristis.

though the paja seems rather thin to me. Not as thin as a Montecristi but fairly thin for a panama (I call Cuenca hats panamas BTW[huh] )
