    Post New Hats Here!

I don’t know much about Montecristi Panama hats, but I’m pretty sure this was worth 12 bucks. The brim was a bit wonky from being stuffed into a too-small hatbox (the seller insisted this was a Churchill hat, and refused to ship without the box), but just a bit of steam fixed that. Now to...

setting a hat down: brim up or brim down?

Yes, I agree. Stacking is not my favorite option, and it is done only from necessity. I do usually let the hat sit to dry and/or wipe the sweatband first. I have a couple that came to me with permanent marks from long term stacking.

setting a hat down: brim up or brim down?

I agree with @belfastboy - it depends. On the hat, the locale, the situation…Fed IV, almost always on its crown because the brim is so soft and its usually wet after I wear it. Stiff western, it doesn’t really matter because nothing is going to mess with all that shellac. Fedoras, brim down...

Considering a Stetson Open Road, what clothing pairs well with it?

ORs or Strats generally are my first choices no matter what I’m wearing (unless it’s 90+ degrees and I’m wearing shorts, and even then, it’s not out of the question). I have them in gray, silverbelly, and fawn, as well as a Panama OR. Mine range from the early 1950’s to 2015, and the older...

Thank you kindly, sir. I think the talents of a good seamstress are akin to those of an artist.

Welcome! It’s been a great weekend so far. An unseasonable 70 degree day, and a new strat.

    Post New Hats Here!

Royal Stetson Stratoliner in tan (fawn?). The first pics are as it arrived (including the stowaway near the size tag). After a little cleanup, it easily took a front pinch more characteristic of a Strat. Brim is 2 5/8” and crown is 5 1/2” open. Early ‘50s, I believe. There were no tags or...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

A departure from the norm today for me. Temps in the 20s ahead of some winter weather had me in this functional yet stylish piece to exercise the dogs and let them help me fill the bird feeders.

Looks great. I didn’t know Justin made an OR type hat. Sorry for your loss, Bill.

Yep. The molded crown is immovable, and the soft brim flops around like dryer lint. On the Royal, that is.

I don’t even have a count. Baseball caps were my precursor to fedoras. They’ve been almost like souvenir t-shirts - I picked one up everyone I went.

I use felt craft squares cut into strips as needed. I can double them in certain areas to customize the fit. I’ve also used foam craft squares if the gap is large. Both are cheap and they don’t move around.

I have come to the point that I feel self-conscious if I leave the house WITHOUT a hat. Just choose one you like and wear it, and you will soon forget you have it on.

Welcome to the Lounge. I’m no expert, but it could either be a retailer name, or the sweatband could be a replacement.
