    Your Most Disturbing Realizations

With all due respect and sensitivity to the victims of school shootings, the stats from such shootings are essentially the same as those coming out of Chicago EVERY weekend. Where's the outrage there?

I hear your pain. Those solicitations are bothersome. Within a month of buying and moving in to our new house we began receiving cards, letters and calls asking if we wanted to sell. When my wife gets such calls she simply replies "but where will I live then?"

Good for you! In this day and age of everything being so complicated it is very rewarding to be able to do things for yourself.

Like most, I like and can appreciate the creativity behind some of the commercials seen on TV and heard on radio, enjoying them perhaps even more so when I can identify with their tongue-in-cheek elements. But I find myself kind of offended by Progressive’s “Progressive can’t save you from...

We know what that's like. Ours just turned 14 and has a touch of senility. She usually comes looking for someone to feed her around 2am and about 5am. If I or wife (she never bothers son) don't comply she'll knock something over or off. She's always been a little terrorist that way. A very hard...

I experience that on many work days - I typically get up at 6am. Its the worst when the alarm actually wakes me up. It usually doesn't. In my experience being awake an hour or two, or so, before you have to get up is entirely different from actually getting up. Being a light sleeper I...

Good for you for realizing that. I work at a mid-size liberal arts college that is just stupid expensive. I see the general population here and I wonder where they're going and what their education will actually get them. As we go through the college search process with my son, I try to coach...

Why am I not surprised? Despite our regular carrier being the nicest guy on the planet, this recent incident only reinforced my absolute disgust and mistrust of the USPS. Horror stories are everywhere. My wife works with a woman whose daughter recently got a job with the PO. She totaled 2 (yes...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

Just last night saw Branaugh's Murder on the Nile. We really enjoyed his Orient Express but felt this one fell a bit flat. 3/10 as far as period pics go in my mind: there were just to many incongruities for the period portrayed. Didn't need the prologue back story about his mustache, which was...

Filed a report with the postal police who issued 2 case numbers: one for the opened mail and another for the stolen check. We'll see how that unfold. Girl taking the report wasn't very impressive in her engagement or her english diction. Meanwhile MnL is trying to stop payment on the check...

Personal check. Can't get through to the bank until morning. Wife filed report with PO. Unfortunately no tracking, after all what could possibly happen? Mom in law very trusting.

Sadly apropos to today's discussion: Mom in law sent an Easter card with 6k check in on Monday. Card arrived this afternoon (Thursday), envelope had been opened and the check was missing. USPS is a closed system is it not? Gee, who could have taken it?

Been there, done that (see my post above from a few months ago). They ALL do it. Our issue was with FedEx. UPS has been better, go figure.

That does seem to be the pervasive, if tacet, mantra of those in certain quarters.

Ever since I read this comment when it was first posted some 7 years ago, it has quite literally haunted me. Yeah, it's been quite some time since birthdays were fun.

That's ok, we all know that genuine reality can only be found on the internet.

So it seems that "bruh" has replaced "bro" in urban vernacular? How does that work? Has there been an inordinate influx of Germans recently?

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

Thanks, I'll have to give it a try.

    What's the worst coffee worldwide?

I've never knowingly had chicory coffee. What is it like? I understand a "coffee" can be made from roasted dandelion roots (which are related to chicory). And likely other roots as well.
