I was in the Jackson / Hoback area right near the snake river.
BTW..... for anyone who is interested... Maine is much colder than most of Wyoming.
People in Wyoming are fortunate in so far as they receive most of their snow as a result of elevation. We in Maine get an ass load of snow...
My Akubra Territory earned its cold weather stripes last week.
I took it to Wyoming on an Elk and Mule Deer hunt.
It worked flawlessly keeping rain and snow off my head while keeping my ears free to hear. Also, it looked pretty good the whole time if I do say so myself!!!:eusa_clap...
I love mine...

I also have a Snowy River and a Cattleman. Do a search and find my hat collection post and you can see the others. I like them all. The Territory is "a...
Definatly go for a hat jack. I own 2 of em and I keep them gently in any hat I am not going to wear for a while. They also help break in a new hat very well.
I have the same problem...I am in between a 60 and a 61 so my Akubras need to be streched a little. The hat jack gets the job done...
You can't go wrong with the territory, that was my latest Akubra. I also have a Snowy River and a Cattleman. The Cooper Peedy would be another great one.
You really can't go wrong with an Akubra. BTW don't worry about rain. I have soaked all of mine repeatedly and they are none the worse for...
THANK YOU and Thank You,
I stopped in and picked up 2 nice little cow girl straws for my 2 little girls.
They had some BEAUTIFULL Pannama straw hats, HOWEVER I think if I spent $350 on a hat my wife would ensure that I would not have a head to wear it on!!!!
I am going to be in San Antonio Texas next week. Are ther any hat stores worth looking at while I am there??
I always like to check out the local hat stores when traveling on bussiness.
THANKS
I agree 100% I always try to support local shops and stores.
Not only because it helps the local economy and makes what is available around here better BUT I never understood the dumbo that would spend $40 in gass to drive to a "Big Box Mart" to save $5 !!!!:eusa_doh:
HOWEVER now days...
:eusa_clap lol lol
HELL YEAH !!!
A comedian (I don't remember who) said that cocaine was one of Gods ways of letting you know that you had too much money. Perhaps a hat for 100K that was made by some poor Ecuadorian that made maybe $2500 that YEAR is also Gods way of saying you not only have...
SWEET HAT!!!
My only felt Stetson is a 4X. The 7X must be really fine!
I have to ask, did you steam the hat to put all those creases in it?? If not it truly is an amazingly malleable hat.
NICE LID!! Looks like a good choice.
Don't worry about the gap. Wear the hat day in and day out and it will conform to your head. Having a hat that is too tight is a much bigger problem IMHO.
That is where a hat jack comes in, it cuts down on break in time and can save you some literal...
NOW THAT IS A DISEASE THAT IF I CAUGHT MY WIFE WOULD KILL ME!!!!
lol lol lol
She thinks 3 Akubra felts, 2 Stetsons (one felt one Panama) and some assorted others is bad enough!!:eusa_doh:
PITCHERS OF BEER???:cheers1:
Or Photographs?? PICTURES ??
Sorry I could not resist, I can't spell either!
BTW one more vote for the Black Homburg and NO FEATHER!!
Neat article. That is a little to Adams Family for me. I prefer more contemporary things. Also I find no value in the display of a animal in taxidermy that I did not hunt.
Just my .2
It was a lot cheaper in Africa than the US. I get all my African taxidermy done in Africa. You have to ship the stuff home either way, you might as well send it home finished.
I use a taxidermist in the US for anything from North America.
Does anyone else here like to kill stuff, eat it and then take what is left over and hang it on your wall??
Or otherwise engage in the pursiut of hunting and the art of taxidermy????lol
If you are interested check out this link. This is some of my stuff...
