I now have three St. Regis' in 7 1/8. I have a black one, a tan one and a gray one that the brim edging was worn on and Optimo was kind enough to replace it with a blak one ala Poirot. I have other Homborgs but the St. Regis is, by far, my favorite.
I've been known to wear an Open Road with a black suit. I wear an beige shirt with a tie that has black, beige and brown it it. People tell me it looks good.
I downloaded With the Old Breed earlier this week and am through D+1 on Pelelieu. It makes the scenes on The Pacific much more understandable and real. I highly recommend it as a supplement to the series.
It goes into far more stories than the series, including naval and air stories, principally, at least at this point, the Coral Sea and Midway. I'm hoping that it will "fill in" some of the depth and character development that seems to be needed in the series. I also downloaded With the Old Breed...
No, I think Silent Cal was largely correct. What he was saying is that the road to success, however one defines that, is only possible if you are persistent. Almost all achievers can attest that talent, genius and education are wasted without the determination to move forward to reach your goal.
I've used mine twice now, having received it the day before yesterday, and it is fabulous as the others have described. I really like the smooth shave, much better than any commercial product I've used. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence.
Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent.
Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb.
Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts.
Persistence and determination alone...
That was a very touching scene. To have the battle hardened troops come to attention and salute is a real tribute to Ack Ack's leadership. My father never talked about his service until dementia set in and he started talking about the snipers and the infiltrators. I'm impressed by the "ring of...
Which one? The one that went berserk and threatened the whole platoon or the one who was moving outside his foxhole at night without singing out? With the reputation, based upon actual experience of Japanese infiltrators seeking into Marine positions at night, friendly fire incidents were fairly...

My father enlisted in the Marine Corps in November 1942 after a childhood friend, Quinn Curry, was killed with the 1st Division at Guadalcanal. I find that Pacific has what I call the "ring of truth." That means that I appreciate the sense of the times it depicts. I've studied the details of the...
Both great looking hats. I've had one of Bender's hats for about 8 years and absolutely love it. It has weathered very well. By the way, I bid on the 7 1/8 so obviously it appears to be of extremely low quality. No need for anyone else to bid.
