No need to mill it off as it will come off with the screws. Uberti already has a direct replacement for the weaver rail version.

Me as well as I do like the Browning action compared to say a Sharps. And by the look of the screws in the weaver base I'd bet it will come off....

This is a 5.25" brim and a 4.75" crown....it is a BIG hat I don't wear when it is windy. Seriously. As I mentioned I wear a 7.5 hat. Big head...
Guess some info needs to be added. You won't find a decent factory made hat over 5" Most won't make 5" on a good day. I've never seen @ 6"...
