I got caught yesterday in a downpour while loading a trailer, so I couldn't just run inside. I was wearing a brown Stetson Gun Club. Before I knew it chocolate brown water was running down onto my light tan coat (and left stains that didn't wash out  ). The hat still looks fine, but...
Got one today while wearing the Resistol described here. I was out working on one of our trailers, and someone going by laid on the horn for a full 7-8 seconds all the while shouting at the top of their lungs. Only thing I could pick out was "horses". People in a moving vehicle are indeed...
Duh, I missed that one. I even did a search for Stetson customer service before I started posting. I'll try the email listed in your post now.
I like the band in the hat, and actually noticed the other day just how comfortable it is. It is a very occasional hat, though, so I may end up in...
Have a Gun Club Chevron that is about 9 months old, and the color around the edge of the brim is going away. I've only worn it maybe 10 times, it sits in a hat caddy otherwise and it has yet to brave the elements. Sent an email using the Stetson customer service function on their website a few...
Using what you said, I used a clipboard and my hand to press it after I steamed it, and that looks like it did the trick. By crease I meant a line where the hat was originally shaped, and remnants of it remained as a slight raised line/hump. More pressing fixed that as well, just took a couple...
Unintended benefits of getting a mashed hat. I have had the steamer for a while (bought it to remove car window tint), but have hesitated to work on a good hat. This one was perfect to try it out...I mean, how could I make it worse?
So the hat looked rough in the pictures, and I'm sure shipping in a kroger bag didn't help (they did write "Don't set anything heavy on this, please" )
Once I got it unpacked it was pretty flat.
15 minutes with a brush, stiffener and a steamer and it's a decent looking...
So I got energy drink on a Resistol Silverbelly 4x hat. Now I have a stain. Ideas?
Back when I did stereo work we would use WD-40 to clean stains off silver, white and gray cloth materials, so that's where I'm leaning.
Missed this thread the first time around, picture is from this past March. Hat is a Beaver Brand I picked up in the late 80s specifically as a rain hat, and almost every time it has been worn has been in precipitation.
I never could see it really well during the scene, but I think it was straw. Seems like we see more and more hats, both on screen and on heads. Good stuff.
The post above jarred my memory. I have used these boot blousers in the past (black on the left in the image). Wide enough to cover some amount of material and the velcro makes them easy on/off. A pair will cover several inches of pants leg on the chain side.
I bet so as well. Thanks to all for the warm welcome.
That's what this one was for years...lost. It just turned up while I was looking for something else, so don't give up hope. You too may open a box of old plates and, what do you know, who stuck a hat in there?
