    Modern custom vs Vintage

I was told by the last technical director Gustav Menschel of Ebreichsdorfer Filzhutfabrik / S. & J. Fraenkel Wien (started as master dyer in the mid 1950s) that nitrate of mercury pickled fur was still available in Europe up to the mid 1960s. Here is a translated excerpt from his unpublished...

Do you have more photos (side view, front view, inside view, sweatband marks, sweatband bow)? I would like to see photo of where (paper label) it says 100% Haar. Does it have a paper label behind the sweatband?

    Post New Hats Here!

Brent, Thanks again for the tip! The finish is much better than the photos show. The felt is of very high quality. I was hoping the seller had some background information. The hat definitely came from Germany but how it got here will remain a mystery.

Stefan, Thank you! Yes, I rarely see them similar to Dermotta Wien. Also interesting that it ended up in America. The Seller didn't have any background information other than it was left in a building with a lot of other items.

Dobesch Wien "Exquisit", 58 cm, possibly late 1950s. The Black Felt has a great Chamois finish and easily dry creases. The overall condition is excellent. It's rare to come across a Snap Brim Dobesch Wien (most are Homburgs). I would like to give a big thank you to Brent for the great tip...

    J. Hückel´s Söhne "Jota Velour", FP 5, possibly late 1920s early 1930s. Really fantastic Black Velour that easily dry creases. There is no Hückel on the Liner and Sweatband. The JHS Crest is the similar to the "Loden" Soft Felts that also do not have Hückel on the Sweatband and Crown Tip...
