The new capeskin A1 is getting some high praise on VLJ thread linked above. Mine’s hopefully in the works, standard sizing with minor tweaks.. requested extra grainy! Though from the looks of it, that might not have been necessary.
After a few purchases I agree that many of their leathers are a...
I’ve lately become interested in/obsessed with the A-1 style jacket in general. I see 5* has come up with a new “top notch” capeskin and/or process. It looks really good to me and am tempted… Nice grain, nice finish, nice rich color. Price tag is $320, a fairly significant bump from their...
Some fit pics. I am 5-9” tall, 190lbs. Medium/athletic build. With a t-shirt this is quite roomy on me, on review I’d personally call it a 42/44. Up close from certain angles, you can see some base leather color showing through, as seen in last photo.
Back length: 27-1/4”
Shoulder: 22”
Sleeve: 24-1/4”
Pit to pit: 24”
Bottom hem: 23-1/2”
In standard leather jacket sizing I take a 19” shoulder and 24-3/4 sleeve.
Lightly used somewhat “civilized” custom RAF made in U.S.A. This is the best quality jacket I own, fits me well with room for layering. But it’s just not getting worn since purchasing in 2019.
I liked the RAF style, but wanted a slightly less “authentic military”, slightly more civilian look...
Thanks Mark, the shoulder scratches penetrate the smooth outer skin, but do not go beyond that. I’m 5’-9”. I like back length, but I prefer a little more front drop.
However I am marking this sale Pending, will update soon. Thanks!
Weekend bump with some fit pics.
A little more detail on front zipper, it takes some extra seconds to engage, partly due to surface oxidation and partly the thick somewhat unyielding leather that surrounds it.
Wish I knew the age of this jacket. Maybe vintage-ish territory? I’m starting to...
Catch and release after a great buying experience with fast shipping from one of the regulars.
I just can’t quite fill out the shoulders, plus not quite comfy in black leather, though I wanted to give it a try!
Very thick Horsehide with unknown years of natural wear, teacore showing through...
Here’s a fresh out of the box Skyfall copy in brown shrunken lambskin, received new last week. I was planning to do a little amateur distressing on this low-investment jacket and be mistaken for Daniel Craig on the street… But I found the shoulders a bit large for my taste. 7” off the collar on...
Here’s that new A1/Earhart in Seal brown veg-tan goat. My first hide of that type. Feels great. The idea of choosing a hide based on wide availability within the region made sense to me. Fit-wise… well I cut it a little close with very little room for layering. But seems to pair nicely with a...
