The Colly has a 5 in. crown. That's an inch taller than a Cattleman or a Territory; three triangular small eyelets. It's a Territory with a tall crown, or maybe a Sombrero with a smaller brim? Big ass hat. I love it! -

Agreed. I've been ordering my last few Akubras a size large and using a shim because I know they will shrink - and not just the sweatband, the whole hat. My Sombrero, on the other hand, is running a little large. Gotta get it broke in and ready for mushroom season! -

...felts. The front of the brim has an audible snap to it now. Lol Ready for mushroom season. I just hope the weather and the bloom falls on my vacation requests from work. The cow hair band I thought was gross and creepy even before I handled a Sombrero. But now I'm into the fun and funky stage. -

...sub-tropics, my Scottish hide has grown allergic to the sun. The derma told me it's not too bad, but I definitely don't want to make it any worse. I'd go for a sombrero but wide brims just don't look good on me - 2-3/4 is about as wide as I can go and even that looks a little awkward to my eye.- The Lost Cowboy

...curl, and added some downwards tilt to the front of the brim for better sun protection. There's a lot of real estate to work with on the Sombrero! It kept me dry and warm today on a long dog walk through a snowstorm. with a Schaefer Outfitter wax jacket and Beringia wool shirt, Icebreaker... -

The tool I have coming has both 3/8 and 1/2" curls. Depending on the original brim size, Im thinking The curl can take the place if trimming the hat narrower ( Im not real big on oversized brims). A nice roll should effectively reduce the brim acerage lol -

I had a tighter pencil curl put on my Sombrero, perhaps that's an option? I did have the brim cut down slightly as well, and of course the crown is higher than the example in your picture. I've seen pencil curls on bound edge western hats, shouldn't be a problem.
