Aero Universal zippers and other feasible options
The damage looks from the male pin section? I do not think you need a new zipper. Just repair the tape. Remove several stiches from top and bottom and reinforce the tape with several available products. I use five star super glue-cyanoacrylate (basically a industrial grade super glue)... -

Cotton is a proven winner. If you take care of your jacket a quality cotton tape zipper will last for a long time. Poly blend zippers are ok but not my first choice. -

You can do it. I started by learning how to saddle-stitched things together. There are videos on YouTube that show how it is done. Also, I have seen leather edge trim being sold and ready to be sewn. The YouTube channel that uses the leapfrog" method is nice and simple. He does a good job...- photo2u

If you really like the way it fits, Just rock it. I think the arms are long and a little too wide. However, The overall fit is good. I always have trouble with sleeve length in most jackets. -
