    Ladies show us your best.

My wintercoat (vintage with a fox fur collar, but not that old), the hat is 1930's. Purse probably 1960's. The shoes are new. Oh well, it's all about combining and trying to get the right look, isn't it? I love winter by the way, finally the opportunity to wear fabulous coats and lots of leather...

    What are you wearing today??

Thanks you for the compliments! :) It's actually not a dress, but a woollen skirt by Hobbs (my favorite brand, but alas, they only sell in the U.K.) and a cotton cardigan with cotton lace I picked up at DIDI (Dutch brand) in the sales. The buttons are hidden, so it looks like a jumper. I happend...

    Dita Von Teese

Well, I must say I'm glad Dita is around, because for many people in the Netherlands she is the only point of reference when it comes to dressing vintage. So she makes me, in a way, look less odd when walking down the street in my crazy hats. Because of Dita people recognize the style and...

Art Deco brooch Ca. 1925-1930 Art Deco brooch marked Tcheco Slovaquie. No other marks, so probably not silver. I bought it for 12 euros from an on-line seller. Very festive!

Great do's, LadyL and crazydaisy! All those women nowadays who spend hours straightening their hair...madness. I love curls and waves. Soft, sexy and feminine. Now that's worth puttin' a little effort in.

Watch Your Carriage, Madame! A Guide to Good Posture

My posture is good and I owe that to years of dancing (ballet, Irish, tap, flamenco). Heels do help, although I have to be careful not to stick my bum out too far! Wearing a hat helps too and I always wear thick tights that I pull up to reach my bra, and they give me a lot of support, like a...

    Show us your hair do's....

You look supercute Claireg! This is my hairstyle. I dye my hair myself and created fingerwaves the lazy way. This is how I do it. But I have to admit my hair is very easy to handle. It has a natural curl and is not very thick. This 1930's style is my favorite at the moment. A little...

    Show us your vintage hats!

Turban-like hat My new green velvet hat. It looks a bit like a turban and has a small bow at the back. It has straw and wire in the rim (I removed the lining to clean it) and had an elastic attached. I'm not sure how to wear it nor do I know how old it is. Ideas anyone?

1940's dress Original forties dress. Blue crepe dress with original belt, shoulderpads and black sequins. In mint condition! The owner of my favorite shop though it would fit me...and it did. I never find stuff to fit my size (44/46, high waist, big hips). It taught me to become...

The end of the homeless look... I hope?

Well, I must say that I find a lot of truth in your theory about ecenomic depression and people dressing smart. I can see that is happening in the Netherlands. More dessy jackets, neat shirts, skirts a bit longer and lots of classic, classy wintercoats. Proper hats and gloves everywhere in the...

Alas, the hat has no label. But this is what the back looks like. The slightly pointed shape in the front, the angle you have to wear at and the very art-deco shape on top with the small bow made me think it is 1930's. But it is in mint condition, so has probably never been worn.

New Hat! 1930's you think? There is a little bow at the back and I usually wear the veil turned up. I think I'm in love with a hat...is that possible?

    La Bella Nussy Mascara

Yes, no problem. The only difficult thing is you have to clean the spiral every time you use it, so some mascara goes down the drain. And in stead of cardboard I would use a piece of plastic, so you can wash your 'palet'. But otherweise...great product!
