    A handsome first family

I would like to take a moment to applaud our first family for looking so good. I put this picture on my wall because I'm so proud. I feel like it's the '60s all over again. Here Obama is seen in his favored casual wear: a proper shirt with jeans and nice shoes. Michelle as always is in a...

    Post New Hats Here!

Nice! If I saw you, I'd want to know more about the lady in that strapping crown. Puts our puny men's hats to shame.

    What are you wearing today??

Nice shirt. To my eye, the risky part is wearing a striped shirt with a highly patterned tie. I think a plain tie, minimal pattern, would be best with a striped shirt. It might be one of those idiosyncratic things peculiar to me. I do tend to be peculiar as far as most people are concerned.

    Soap for shaving

I know there's that ancient shaving thread floating around, but I wanted to talk about a recent realization I had: the important part in the shaving-soap/brush combination is the brush. I prefer unscented liquid soap for my main soap (so that my new natural perfumes are not obscured)...

    Post New Hats Here!

Jaxon Kingston I got this fully vented hat for $20 from the Village Hat Shop. I have to have a vented hat in summer; this fills the bill for cheap. Glasses hand-made in France.

I Got The "Brim Too Wide" Blues!

Definitely do not trim the brim. However, I must be the dissenting opinion here and agree with you: the brim is far too wide for you. You're swimming beneath it. My test: are you wearing the hat or is it wearing you? That hat's wearing you.

All You Need to Know About Hat Etiquette

I certainly hope that a classroom would be considered a sufficiently intimate indoor environment to warrant removal of the lid.

My third work of stingy Art

Actually, that's Victor Hugo. Richard Hugo wrote in the late 20th century.

My third work of stingy Art

And here's... the stingy porkpie in dark brown. 1 3/8" brim. Two-tone bow. Shrieks of excitement whenever I wear it.

My third work of stingy Art

You really can't go wrong with a Beaver Brand. The Fedora Store has a great selection. With certain models, you can spec everything about the hat, brim, color, crown style, bow style, etc. Great hats for the money.

My third work of stingy Art

My teardrop I don't have a shot of Art's stingy brown pork-pie, a thrilling hat that receives praise wherever I go. Here's the stingy Bourbon St:

My third work of stingy Art

Ranting back I'll post more photos tout de suite. Ranting a bit back at ya, MAB1. I happen to believe that 98% of men wear hats with brims far too large for them. I believe strongly that an urban gent has no business wearing hats with brims wider than 2", or 2.5" max. Anything more is for...

My third work of stingy Art

I got this hat a while back but only just now started breaking it out. It's a homburg with a 1 3/8" rolled brim. Art called me before he sent it and said, "I just wanted you to know it's...well, it's really jaunty." Heck yes I said, bring it on. Oodles of compliments every time I wear it...

    The Filson Thread

I personally can't say enough about Filson. A sweater of theirs I bought almost 15 years ago still looks good as new, and it's been used almost every day of every winter season. I find their Jac-Shirt even is warm enough for Northwest winters. It's uncanny how city folks pick up on what nice...
