Thanks for the replies...
...Art, I will do as you suggest. Mags, it is a new model. Should I just dry it as Art instructs and live with the resulting brim?

Hi,
I've been enjoying my new Borsalino Traveler - wearing it in rain, coolish weather, etc. When wet I dry it upside down on its crown on the counter.
The edge of the brim is quite wavy all around. Is this typical for this type of hat, and adds to its character, or should the brim not...
Great!
You know, I think I'll show you guys an oldish Stetson I have for the felt, and get a Cuenca for the straw :-). The Stetson is from the late 80s, I just cleaned it up, steamed the crown & ironed the brim - now I'm trying to figure out how to *shape* the brim.

Harry J
Thanks for your suggestions...
...I've got an "Ultimate Hat" which is a Tilly competitor that I often wear when I'm kicking around the house, but it can get hot, so I'll look for an inexpensive Panama.

However, what do you recommend for a yard work/weekend hat - one each in felt and straw?
Thanks in advance,
Harry J

Is there a rule of thumb how loose or tight a hat should fit? It does move *a little* from side to side...
Thanks for the welcome
Hi again,
Thank you for your kind responses and feedback.
So, it appears that I either keep my hair pretty short, or put the hat on sorta carefully and punt. Heck, that's fine - what do I care :-).
I currently have a Dobbs "Panama" and a decent (I think) Stetson...
Hi folks,
My name is Harry, and I've been "lurking" here for a while - thanks for all the information and insight you all provide.
I'd like to wear a hat more often, but... hat head. I've got pretty thick curly hair (lucky at this point in my life) and whenever I take off my hat it leaves...
