The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

This generation... Recently I walked past a trio of very well dressed young professionals- a woman and two men- who were laughing, pointing and mumbling a "what the !@#$..." at a Franciscan Brother, dressed in a plain brown habit, who had walked past them. This, the new generation, many raised...

The Dumbest Comment I Ever Heard

I wear hats all the time: fedoras, newsboy or my new Bushman. Each morning I board the metro into downtown Washington DC joined by many other hatwearers. Lots of fedoras and broadbrim hats I might add. I've never heard a negative comment and I wouldn't care if I did. Life is too short to worry...

Crime and corruption in New Jersey, go figure!

Ha! I was born in Jersey City. I got a Hudson County Junior Deputy Sheriff badge when I was five years old. I was an honest cop! Really!

    Return of the Vamp

She wears evening clothes so well. She's very feminine. You rarely see her dressed like a slob. It would be nice to see her style catch on.

    Vat 69

I went looking for it after spotting it in Twelve O'clock High. I was shocked to see how cheap it was and passed. Has anyone here tried it lately?

    Worst insult

Not to hijack the thread but I like the term "mac" as in "Got a light, mac?" or "Semper Fi, mac." It's a nice, friendly expression. Time to bring that one back.

Looking for a lightweight chambry shirt

I have an old, beat up Oshgosh chambray shirt. It's perfect. I've been searching all over for a new one- or two. Good chambray shirts were all over the place ten years ago.

    New Scorsese

I saw the trailer last night- looks like a great flick. I'm a big Scorsese fan anyway.

    The Black Dahlia

I saw it last night and was really disappointed. The actual Black Dahlia murder story is sort of pushed off to the margins of a really convoluted storyline. It reminded me of Titanic and Johnny Depp's Jack the Ripper movie where the much more compelling reality is buried beneath a badly...

    Best time machine movie

The best time travel film hasn't been made yet. Jack Finney's Time and Again is my all time favorite time travel novel. It was never made into a film. The story takes place in turn-of-the-century New York City. It would make a great movie.

What are your unreleased dvd wants?

Every time I enter the dvd section I check for Orson Welles' masterpiece The Magnificent Ambersons. I have it on tape but I'm dying to see it on dvd.

    The Untouchables (TV)

Not to mention the great Walter Winchell as narrator! Great show.

    Favorite post-2000 bands?

Look for "Gnarles Barkley" and the song "Crazy." It's a big hit in England and on the internet. The album will be released in the U.S. on May 4. Nice retro R and B sound. I haven't been excited by new music in years but this is a great tune.

    Celebrities and heroes.

Clark Gable flew in some dangerous missions in B-17s over Europe. He made a terrific documentary film about air gunnery (the name escapes me at the moment.) I've always admired him for that.

Who loves the music of Force's sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn?

Auf Wiederseh'n Sweetheart is my all-time favorite Vera Lynn song. Sweet and poigniant.

    Nine-O-Nine and Witchcraft PICS

Great pics! Until now I thought there was only one B-24 flying (The Dragon's Tale.) Does the Witchcraft fly or is it a static display? I took a ride in the Nine-O-Nine several years ago. A great thrill.
