A Vintage Bump
So, I didn't see a thread on this already, but if there is, I apologize.
I recently found out that I am expecting (!!!) and am quite distraught at the thought of giving up my vintage wardrobe for "maternity" clothes. I've already put my girdles away for the next 9 months...
These are just darling, swingkitten! I may have to try my hand at this pattern... I finished a snood that I crocheted without a pattern about two weeks ago, and though it came out okay, the knit was far too tight; I find I can be a little too adventurous at times, haha.
I seem to have the same problem. I love to wear skirts and dresses, but find that heels are not always a viable option. But I must agree with the keds comment from earlier. Though they are a bit casual, they look great with gored skirts and day dresses. And if I'm feeling a little "undone,"...
I just tried my hand at crocheting a snood about two weeks ago, and it came out okay, though there was little spacing, so it was a little more reminisent of an over-sized beret, or something of the sort, haha... Take two!
Why, thank you, deadpandiva! I live in California now, which is a delight, because people seem to be a lot more tolerant of differences. But I lived in Kansas before that and it was much more difficult to be regarded as anything short of strange. It was entertaining though, hehe.
oh my,that's a beauty! Is the bottom right button missing (it's easily replaceable, I was just wondering) Either way, I'm off to reach the "15 post minimum" and I'll be back with a PM :)

LD, I definitely know that feeling. But, for me, it's mostly within the rest of the african american community (especially in my college town) that I tend to feel a bit ostracized and, at times, blatantly ridiculed. I've received some extremely tasteless comments from people, insinuating that...
oh, wow! my father is native american and irish, and my mother is caribbean (african-american, if she has to check a box, haha). but they're gorgeous.
and this thread gives me a little reassurance. i always feel slightly out of place, to be honest, but this is wonderful :)
Grant Fan- Me too! I have a ton of beauty marks all over my body (finger, arm, stomach...) and none on my face, but my other 3 siblings all have a beauty mark on their face (one of my sisters has two!!)... I've attempted to draw one on before, but it just wasn't the same for me. In any case, I...
When I was in school, I used to get really unnerving stares, but mostly from the sorority/fraternity types. But I always get lovely compliments from older men, which I certainly appreciate.
The most interesting comment I've ever received was during a writing session, when another writer asked...
Why, hello there. My name is Samantha and I'm a new member, though I've been creeping around this forum for over a year now. I've learned a lot of great things and can't wait to get involved in discussions! Personally, I favor wartime and post-war 40's style for everyday wear, as well as the...
