    Jewish PoWs

A question, I hope doesn't turn nasty. How were American and British Jews treated if captured by German forces during WWII?

Hunting Hitler on the History Channel

Oh, and a responce to V C: funnily enough we view Fox News as somewhat anti-British forvery much the same reasons.

Hunting Hitler on the History Channel

I think it would be safe to suggest that most of those who have famously gone missing are now dead. Hitler, for instance, would be over a hundred. And he didn't look to well in that photo of him meeting members of SS Hitlerjungend.

Hunting Hitler on the History Channel

Can I add, for our American friends that in Britain the Daily Mail is noted for its historical articals, but not known as a journal of record. I would not out too much trust in what is seen as a British version of Fox News.

WWII/old-fashioned military slang for passing gas.

It just has to be said. In the UK, an oft used word is "trump". I'll leave that there for our American friends to think about.

    When did the penny drop?

I started this thread, because I was interested in the attitudes og tbe German High Command. I realise that Fritz in his plane, tank, trench or ship would do what he was told. But why didn't Guderian do something? Where was the Plan B? Andvto the Two of You who have turned this...

    When did the penny drop?

A rather fundamental question, I suppose: At what point did the German military leadership begin to think that they had lost the War? And what plans had they in place to do anything about it?

    Return of the Catalina

Catalinas. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww My favourite aircraft of all. I'm not sure whether it was watching Jacque Cousteau programs on the tv as a child, or even my older brother making a model of one when we were both very young, but I love these machines. I saw one taking off from Duxford once...

Physiological problems of bomber crews in the eighth air force during wwii

I've asked this before, sorry, but I never had any replies. It must have been lousy for the Allied bomber crews, but they had the "comfort" if that is the right word (and it isn't) of knowing that what they were doing was, sort of revenge for what the Germans had done earlier. But how did...

    Colditz

A former friend of mine had a German mother. His uncle used to deliver vegetables to Colditz, as a boy. He came back one day saying "You won't believe this but there is a prisoner up there, with no legs". They didn't. It was, of course, Douglas Bader.
