Vintage ways to keep your ears warm?

Read my mind. I had bought some earmuffs (new ones) last year and they hurt. I am wondering if the vintage ones would be more comfortable if I can find a decent pair.

A forgotten Golden Era virtue, Thrift

I had a 350 feet well where I was before and loved it. Delicious water. Well water has trace elements in the water that is good for you. Now I "have" to buy water though do have a filter on the fridge and drink from it as well. I don't think the faucet thing would work as well.

    Nutrition and exercise!

I am going to set a time period and try to stick to it. I also am not a gym type but do like walking and especially swimming and dancing. I already dance quite a bit but may step it up. Thanks Lillemor. That is quite an accomplishment. Hope you are able to start again. We have snow so I...

A forgotten Golden Era virtue, Thrift

absolutely. I feel like a very wealthy woman as I had so little as a child monetarily but I am not wealthy to others. To be able to run your fingers under running water is a luxury some will never know. Perspective is something I am fascinated with. Especially after being on the FL so long...

A forgotten Golden Era virtue, Thrift

We have had many threads along these lines on the FL. I think it was LadyDay that said it cost $1.00 to make a loaf of homemade bread. I have one exception to the cell phone. I have one that I pay upfront to have and the very basic plan. I have to do this as we live in tornado alley and when I...

Well Kahuna. You sound like a very smart man. I was raised by depression era parents who passed in the 1980s. We have actually had a thread here on making do and mend etc. I am an antiques dealer but believe me when I say I can make a penny scream and try my best not to waste as taught that. I...

    Detroit in ruins

When I was a child I lived in an old house with pillars and balcony that seriously looked like something out of the pictures. My aunt had oodles of money and my Father had none. She gave him a job of living in the house. It had 6 apartments on the property and he was to manage them. It even had...

So funny sheeplady and so true. One of my top fav funny shows is "Money Pit" Some member here actually spoke of this very thing and called his house the Money Pit it seems. Have no idea who the guy was or if he is still here. It isn't a one day job that is for sure. (I know I personally must...

    Wedding attire advise :)

Sorry, I didn't even think to look in one of the FL sponsors. Vivien of Holloway does have very nice stuff. http://www.vivienofholloway.com/en/product/sarong-print/ This would be very nice. Just don't do the white one. Only for the bride to shine in white on her Wedding Day.

DEATHS ; Notable Passings; The Thread to Pay Last Respects

http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D9KIUOTO0.htm Don Tyson. If your children ever screamed for McNuggets this is the guy who came up with that idea. RIP. Being in Arkansas it is a pretty big thing as it is one of the largest employees. Pros or cons.

We used to renovate houses. I used to say it should of been in our vows do you promise to go forth and renovate with this man. It is hard and expensive to find replacements. Most of even the trim is not standard and things like weights in the old windows or replacements etc. ------------- One...
