    Show us what you've made!

Hardly equal to the beautiful garments other ladies show on here, but I made myself flannelette French knickers to keep me a bit warmer in the winter. I used this schematic: http://www.frillybits.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/img-slips.jpg to draft my own pair. I still need to add...

    Show Us Your Purchases!

I really, really want it too now, Lolly! Such a beautiful winter dress. When I get better at sewing I might attempt to make a similar one (like that's going to happen!!).

How does a girl keep warm?

I mainly go for layering and plenty of warm underwear. I've bought myself some thermals and thick tights for the winter. I even made myself some French knickers made out of floral flannelette, just to keep me warm when wearing some of my more voluminous skirts. As for footwear, I'm quite stuck...

Does your body change every 7 years?

I feel like mine's changed, and that's just from a few years ago, although I was nearing 21 then, so maybe that was it?! I'm pretty sure from what I recorded of my measurements and how my clothes fitted, that from 18-21 my hips were slightly smaller, waist larger and bust smaller than now. I've...

Too bootylicious for the Sweater Dress???

BD you've inspired me to go and search for sweater dresses to buy! Having read over this thread, I'm a bit worried about how any of them would fit, but I reckon if it flares out enough at the hem then it should look ok. Now where's best to look? Etsy?

Show us what you have Crafted!

I've just finished my Swedishy Selbu modern hat. It took just 2 days to make and reminded me how much I love colourwork! I dyed the yarns myself and am chuffed with how they turned out. And I got a bit too excited to try it on, so I'm afraid the only picture of it on me is with me in my...

Battling the Elements, or: Why I Hate St. Petersburg

You study German and Russian too, yay! When I was in St. Petersburg I pretty much gave up on ever looking good, particularly with the walks through the snow and driving wind, although thankfully when I was there it never really got below -15. I will however also vote for headscarves to hold hair...

    Show us what you've made!

The amount of sewing you've done puts my sad attempts to shame! I've been looking for a pattern for a dress with a neckline just like your brown floral one 3rd from bottom. You've inspired me to get sewing for autumn, since summer's definitely over here.

Excuse me Miss, do you Blog?

I started a blog not so long ago. It started out mainly as a knitting blog, but since I've started sewing that's gone on there too. Since I knit, crochet and sew a mixture of vintage and modern projects it's a bit of a mixed bag. I do try to update at least weekly though, which I'll hopefully be...

Show us what you have Crafted!

Thanks! The purple is Madelinetosh sock in Lepidoptra colourway (a bit stupidly expensive) and the blue is Holst Garn Supersoft (from Denmark but the shipping wasn't too costly) in Surf. The Holst Garn is the thinner yarn being a 3ply as opposed to 4ply, but it's kind of stinky before washing...

Show us what you have Crafted!

I made myself a purple shawl and my mum liked mine so much she asked for one of her own, so I made hers in a light blue The pattern is Ishbel by Ysolda Teague and is really quick and easy to make!

What decade most flatters your figure?

I'm new to actually wearing rather than just admiring vintage clothes, so I'm not really sure yet! I certainly love the full dresses of the 50s, but I'm a pear-ish shape (37, 27, 40) so I'm not sure what would best suit me!

    Show us your vintage patterns!

I just bought my first vintage patterns off Ebay. They came in a lot of 4. The first two I'm not so keen on, but I'm really looking forward to making the other two once I figure them out and play with the sizing a bit!

    Show us what you've made!

I've finished my second dress! This pattern (Simplicity 3673) was so easy, if it hadn't been for the zip this could've been finished in a day. I had to do the zip without a zipper foot, which was ok except for the bottom of it which I had to finish by hand. It turned out a little squiffy...

If you said you looked like one celebrity from the Golden Era...

Nobody's ever said I look like anyone else! None of my friends/ acquaintances know any celebrities from the Golden Era, so, any thoughts?

Can you help me date this item??

I bought this skirt today at a vintage shop around the corner. They seem to sell stuff from the 20's-80's, but the majority seemed to be 60's-70's. I'm pretty much in love with how comfy this skirt is. It actually fits on my hips and my waist which never happens in shops usually because of the...

Lottie and Miss Sofia- the shoes are from Shellys, but I think I bought them on Asos. The only drawback is that they've got a 5" heel and I'm used to flats so I can only totter around in them for about 10 minutes at a go! :eusa_doh:

Do you have a sewing circle or craft group?

It's not sewing, but I sometimes go to a knitting group that's pretty massive here in London. Stitch London is on in a different location every week. I've been looking for a sewing one but haven't had any luck so far and none of my friends knit or sew [huh]

    Vintage Streetstyle Thread

OK, after a quick look at her flickr I just have total Johanna envy! Stunning and talented. Ahh well, I might have to try and make myself a fluff trimmed dress for the winter, although I'd probably keep stroking it lol .
