Red lipstick and the job interview

I guess I just don't see the problem wearing red lips or vintage at an interview. Since I do the hiring for my department I think it's more important that a person dresses like they want the job rather than wear jeans/tshirts/no makeup. I don't really think there is a right or wrong answer...

Red lipstick and the job interview

I have been both the interviewer and interviewee and I always wear my red lipstick. It's part of who I am and I won't compromise that. But if you're having these doubts then don't wear your red. You won't be comfortable and you'll be second guessing yourself. Interviews are stressful enough...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I just have to pass on that MAC's Ruby Woo has left me disappointed. It wears off unevenly and applies unevenly. I bought two tubes and they both do that. I've been wearing it exclusively since the first and it doesn't matter how I apply it, it fades off after a few hours leaving me with what...

    What rouge do you use?

I guess I'm confused as to the difference between rouge and blush. Could someone explain it to me?

    Witch Hazel

No! Don't dilute! Use it pure and then follow with rosewater. Or, if you can't stand the smell of the witch hazel, dilute it with the rosewater. Make sure neither contain alcohol. I personally use the witch hazel and rosewater combo twice a day. If I'm really oily I use the straight...

    Best Mascara (for vintage looks)?

I absolutely agree with this statement. I love my Clinique mascara. I work in corrections so I need a mascara that will stand up to 16 hour days and physical violence. It gives me the staying power I need, the nonirritating formula my eyes beg for, and the vintage look I won't be without. I...

warehouse 13 am totally hooked 59 Lark eager for more.

I love Warehouse 13. I tivo it and watch it when I need something lightheated and fun. I think the actors that play Mika and Pete have great chemistry. The second season admittedy was a bit weak, I could have done without H.G. Wells and the vet, but I still enjoy it.

    Lipstick question

I have very pale skin with rosey undertones. I use the Jordana easyliner retractable pencil for lips in sedona red. I got it at walgreens for like 2 bucks. It seems a little orangish until I put chapstick over it, then its truely red and beautiful. Try it and let me know how it works for...

    Lipstick question

This is what I suggest to you - over the next few weeks just use a red lipliner and chapstick. Line your lips and fill them in with the pencil. Top it with chapstick and you're set. Hit the cheap stuff (Wet and Wild/ NYC) and pick up a bunch of different colors. Then you can find a color you...

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I had this elderly man (91 he said) corner me in the elevator at the V.A. Hospital, grab me by the shoulder and yelled "You know who you look like? Kate Smith. She sang to me once. God, what a woman Kate was. Can you sing? Can you sing God Bless America?" I was stunned, mumbled "You really...

    Cold Cream- Brands and advice!

I use witch hazel every day, three times a day and my skin is beautiful now. I ended up going to the Boise Co-Op to get distilled witch hazel since the stuff I found in the store was cut with alcohol. I find it very soothing to my skin. I haven't found a cold cream that works for my...

    My Mother Says...

My mom just laughs at my wardrobe choices. I've always been the odd one in the family. She supported me through my polyester shirt phase, the nothing but orange phase, the punk phase, the cowboy phase, the stoner phase...now she says I finally have a look that she can support without a fake...

What is your favorite red lipstick brand/shade?

I found a really cheap, really beautiful red by Ferity called Classic Red. It's almost matte but it's stay-put. I found it on ebay. Cost me $2.50 for two of them. It's a bit darker than cherry but it's lovely.

    Vintage Wigs

Call me crazy, but I've never seen a vintage wig from the 30's or 40's. Has anyone else every seen them? Did they make them? If so, where do we find them today?

    Best Mascara (for vintage looks)?

I like Clinique's Lash Power Mascara Long-Wearing Formula. It doesn't give me the freaky-spider eyes, doesn't run, doesn't smudge, doesn't come off with tears. Best part - it doesn't irritate my eyes at all! It's subtle too, so (in my opinion) it's perfect for my vintage look.

What about us naturally curly girls?

Thanks for the compliment! I never get tired of those. LOL I have used Pantene Pro-V exclusively for the past 7 or 8 years. I've bounced around their product line but I always go back to their curly shampoo and conditioner. I find that my hair needs the heavy conditioner that Pantene...

do you ever go to restaurants by yourself?

I feel the same way. I work odd hours and sometimes it's just unavoidable to eat alone. I hate bringing a book because it makes me feel like "Look at me, I'm alone and have to bring a book to keep me company." I've found that if I don't take a book, I end up talking to random people which...

New Ladies and Gents Step Forward

Hi. I'm Julie. I posted in The Powder Room a few days ago but I'll say hi to everyone anyway. I'm 28. I live in Idaho, which is not the most vintage-friendly state to live in but I make do. I'm a juvenile corrections officer so I don't get the opportunity to show off my vintage side. I'm...

    What powder, foundation..

I have pale, blemish prone, tempermental skin. In the winter I use Sephora's brand of liquid foundation. It isn't heavy, doesn't cause break outs, and lasts forever. In the summer, I use Physician's Formula 100% Organic Tinted Moisturizer - unfortunately, they have discontinued it so I'll be...
