This is Larry's dog and the company pet/mascot, Ninja. Super nice dog.
The sweatbands are also ordered in, and are cut to size in this machine, here.
This is Mui Luangphasi. She does all the sewing of the sweatbands, the ribbons and gluing of the liners.
Part of their selection of ribbons...
Alright, my adventure into the world of smithblit hats:
These are the felt hat bodies the smithbilt hat company uses. They don't make their own felt, so these are ordered in. These particular ones are the fur felt bodies.
This is Gerald. He blocks the hats with the that machine, there...
It already was for awhile, wasn't it? Too many stickies clutters up the board. I think it's fine being linked in the "Links to Important Hat Forum Threads" thread.
So I'm going to be taking pictures around Calgary's Smithbilt hat company tomorrow as part of a photography assignment for school. They mostly make cowboy hats, so they pictures may be mostly about that but depending on what they're working on, I might get some dress hat stuff.
I'll be sure...
Well, not technically my first, but my first that fits me properly and that I'll wear on a pretty regular basis.

It's got moth bites up the wazoo (one even all the way through the felt, near the ribbon) but it's exactly what I...

I was watching this one all week out of curiosity to see if anyone would bid on it. Nobody did, but it sure is a strange hat. I don't think I've ever seen a straw top hat before.
I'll just state again that I don't think anyone actually "bought" this hat, but concerning the auction and the use of the box: Anyone that doesn't realize that the hat isn't vintage from looking at it isn't going to recognize the box as being vintage, either. Using it as a prop in the auction...
I don't know. I'm not convinced that anyone got screwed out of anything here. Unless this is someone that created this account just because they wanted that hat really badly, I think it's got to be the seller trying to get the maximum bid out of the people actually bidding on the hat. It doesn't...
I saw it and thought it might be a chance to get a new stetson at a decent price, but I stopped keeping track of it after a couple days.
If you check out that winning bidder, the account is less than a week old and that auction is the only one it's ever bid on. Could be the seller.
Yeah, a flash never really seems to do a hat any good.
Another thing that's good for photographing hats. If at all possible- get a picture of the hat on your head. You can Take pictures of it all day from every angle, but it'll never look as good as it does when it's being worn.
Well, there already is the vintage hats section. People just don't use it like they should.
If anything, I'd like to see them add a thing to narrow the search by the size of the hat (as one would do with a shoe or something)
I used to do something like "-new -bucket -costume -indiana -indy" I usually don't bother anymore because it doesn't really take long to look through what's there if you're looking every day. Plus I'm afraid that there might be some people incorrectly listing something as being a good costume...
So doing my routine ebay searches, and I saw this:

It was cheap and had a buy it now option, but while I was deciding if I could spare a few bucks for a new...
Beautiful! I've been looking for something just like that. If it was a size bigger and able to be shipped to canada, I probably would have bid on it.
I love the ribbon colors.
Never heard of a stetson falcon before. A quick search on google finds this thread as the #1 result for it, haha. Although there seem to be a few other hits for an ebay auction selling a stetson hat ad for it:
All the hits for the ebay auction selling that ad says it's from 1963, so I...
