I grew up in a family of rural subsistence hunters, and the whole concept of trophy hunting/trophy displays is really foreign to me. Plus I can't handle all the little beady eyes, staring at me, accusingly.
About the only things that are vehemently disallowed are things I'm allergic to: walnuts, kiwis, bananas, and penicillin (which also means some mold-cheeses are out). However, I'd definitely give the stink-eye to Nazi memorabilia and taxidermied things. We both take off our shoes indoors as do...
I bought a pair of Amerimark shoes a little while ago, and they're surprisingly comfy for the price. I've been eyeing up the burgundy pair as well. They even have a couple pair of sandals that could pass for 40s at a distance.
Re: the big hips/small waist issue, I have all but given up on ready-to-wear trousers. I have a 15-inch difference from waist to hip (besides being a big girl) that makes it almost completely impossible to buy pants that don't gape around the back waistband. I did find one line of jeans that fit...
I have half a small walk-in closet and four drawers. However, I don't own any clothes that are actually vintage, and I'm working on replacing my RTW with my own sewn clothing. I go through my entire wardrobe twice a year and check fit, fade, damage, etc. Minor damage gets repaired (buttons...
I get mine from Target in multi-colored sets. The colors correspond to the diameter of the roller; my set runs from pink (1.25") to blue (5/8"). So I use orange - one size down from the pink - on the front and yellow - one size up from the blue- on the back.
Some sets have the colors arranged...
New haircut, first set
I recently had my hair cut from almost waist length to just at my shoulders. I ended up with 5 inches off (yay!), a long layer in the back, and graduated layers at the front up to a lip-length fringe.
Here's how it looked after my first successful set - damp set...
It's a baby armadillo! There are some more shots of baby armadillos at Zooborns. That one's probably really young- armadillos start to "firm up" as they age.
Along with the aforementioned Ms Hendricks and Ms Swinton, I will watch anything that features Myrna Loy, Emily Blunt, or Emily Watson.
Myrna Loy
Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria
Emily Watson in 'Equilibrium' (she was also Elsie in 'Gosford Park')
I've found that the new powder smells and wears pretty much like the old formula did on my skin. I don't mind the plastic containers-- I buy powder so infrequently that the few leftover containers I have can go to storing other things, like beads, earrings, tiny sewing/knitting tool kits, etc...
"Descent" makes me hyperventilate :/
I'm mostly scared by films about things that have the possibility of happening-- cave-ins, home invasions, serial killers, etc. The ones that have really gotten to me are films like "The Strangers," "Shuttle," etc.
And then there was the French film...
I think the only photos I have of me with my husband are from our wedding.
Me in my dress, because I made it an am still proud of it!
My husband and I in the middle, with my brother- and sister-in-law and their son (who just turned 3). I'd been awake for just under 36 hours and...
Like Lizzie, I have a job that requires a lot of public interaction, so that's my motivation on days when I have a bad case of the "don't wannas." The other is that sometimes I like to look like I actually slept the night before, and I have hit the age where no amount of sleep makes me look all...
