G&B offered about 14 different cloth flight/military jackets in my 2003 catalog. Now they're down to 6 on the website. They seem to be afraid of doing custom work these days too in that they still offer the WEP jacket in satin but they will not make me one out of their Mountain Cloth material...
I'm thinking of ordering a WEP jacket from Gibson & Barnes. I'll probably go with the "mountain cloth" since I don't care much for the shiny satin material. This will be a cool weather or "spring jacket", so I'm wondering if it is worth getting the Thinsulate lining.
Any thoughts on these...
These pants caught my eye while looking at Red Wing boots. At $18, I assume they're imported though. Does anyone own a pair who can comment on sizing? They kind of remind of the pants I used to wear in the late '80s.
After trying to get a jacket for over 2 years from our friends in Scotland I gave up and decided to go with an American company, Johnson Leathers. Initially I was going to order an M200-L and had Alan send me a test fit jacket to try on and photograph for him. That was until I saw Technovox's...
I'm planning on ordering a Johnson Leathers jacket but I want a heavy nickle (or Aluminum?) zipper with large slider tab, similar to the YKK's Schott uses here.
Can anyone tell what # size the zipper is on the above Schott and also explain how the zipper tooth sizing system works?
I've been eying this coat in #990 gray plaid: http://www.bemidjiwoolenmills.com/details.php?id=bm07_101&&im=bm07_105.jpg
30 ounce material seems heavy enough.
Can someone please explain to me how to identify the age and country of origin of these briefcases. I've noticed that some have swivel latches holding the organizers (pallets) in while others seemed to riveted. I've also read that before Atlas closed shop, their cases were being manufactured...
I know some of you may dislike Rockport since I guess they were partly responsible for helping to kill leather soled shoes. Anyways, I have a pair of USA made Oxford Dressports that I purchased in 1995. I still wear them sometimes but the leather has chunks missing in the toe (from abuse)...
It seems more often than not that when I put on a white shirt in the morning (after shaving) and flip the collar up to put on a tie, I'll get a tiny pinpoint of blood from somewhere on my neck on the collar. I've heard spit and hydrogen peroxide are good quick remedies for this. I'd be...
In the winter, I wear chamois shirts anytime I can. JC Penney used to have them under the St. John's bay brand and I believe Sears sold them under the Fieldmaster brand. But that is no more. I've seen brands like Codet (big bill) which I might try but I'm looking for other brands, hopefully...
I picked up a pair of irregular Schaefer jeans for $18 (normally $50) from their website a couple months ago. Not bad at all. The irregularity turned out to be some pilling near the ankle which is not noticeable unless you know to look for it. Their sizing seems to be the same as Wrangler...
I'm trying to get a handle on this as I've seen anywhere from 3 to 8 months. I'm wondering if they get less orders in the spring.
If you guys could, please post the month/year of when you placed your order and the month/year of when you received your coat. Thanks
Can any of you comment on tartan linings (10oz reiver, 16oz strome) as compared to the cotton drill? I was going to go with drill based on it's durability but have been told it's softer than it used to be. As far as warmth, I'm thinking the tartans may fall in between the drill and the alpaca.
I wear a 44 long so right off the bat that's about 2" extra in length. The Stockman and Cheyenne always look too short to me so I'd probably want to add another 2" on top of that for a total of 4" extra. Does Aero charge extra for this?
Do any of you have pics where you lengthend the...
If you've seen any of my recent threads you know I've been looking for a '70s style leather car coat. As far as Ebay, the colors are what bothered me the most. I bought two Cooper jackets for a total of $50. I'm not sure how much they cost back in the day but they seem to be mid-grade...
Since I'm in the market for a new leather coat, I figured I take a trip to the mall just to see what they have. Keep in mind, I go to malls about once a year as I generally despise all the crap they sell. Anyways, once a year is enough to reaffirm my predisposition.
I hadn't been into a...
