"Ten 100 Year Predictions that Came True"

In 100 years from now I expect that celebrity families and media production companies will excercise great influence due to the fact they'll be the ones with money and control over revenue generating media. I imagine that in many years from now a nightmarish scenario will start to evolve...

"Ten 100 Year Predictions that Came True"

Interesting. It just made me think. I wonder whether we'll see marriage changing from a 'whole of life' type contract to one of a defined time period. Perhaps it will become possible to take a 5 year, 7 year or 10 year marriage contract. The contract could be extended at the end of that...

"Ten 100 Year Predictions that Came True"

I've seen sci-fi movies from the 50s.....weren't we supposed to all be wearing silver jump suits by the year 2000?

    Men who can cook.

I think you've just identified a potential solution. I'd also emphasise to them that cooking is a life skill. One other thing you should mention is that life is much more enjoyable if you can prepare food and share it with others. My mother did teach me the basics and I'm very grateful she...

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Kinder Eggs or 'Kinder Surprise' as they are called here are still available in the UK. However the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised if they were banned here too before too long.

    Handwriting Improvement.

I've just been reading through this thread and I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't proud of their handwriting. Similar to other posters, both my parents had beautiful handwriting and many years ago I did a lot to imrpve the way I wrote, but I still feel I have a long way to go.

Vintage Things That Have Disappeared In Your Lifetime?

Interestingly Hamleys in London, one of the the oldest and most famous toy stores in the UK, changed their policy pertaining to separating toys into those for boys and those for girls just before Christmas. This was in response to an online campaign.

    Downton Abbey - I'm hooked

I think you'll want to see the UK 2011 Christmas Special before you see Series 3. Quite a few of the story lines progress. Perhaps it's being wrapped into what you're seeing as Season 2.

Switch to a pipe - the ash all stays in its own little container. Problem solved!

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

OK - you're right. It was very ordinary apart from the fact she was in it. ;) Did I mention the fact the dialogue was just rubbish?!! :p

'One Million Years B.C.' (1966) starring Raquel Welch. Very ordinary.

    Reading on paper or screen

Interesting thoughts Lizzie. What you're saying is very true. If there's not enough money in writing (or any of 'the arts' for that matter) to keep food on the table, we'll revert to the way things were a few hundred years ago when the only way to survive was to have a wealthy patron. Even...
