Pleats and cuffs are back babay!

You misunderstood me, I didn't mean that it was unimportant for a Lounger to know, I meant it was unbecoming to criticize "normals" who are not invested in golden era fashions. While I do concede that formal definitions of what constitute formality are important, the evolutionary nature of...

Pleats and cuffs are back babay!

I personally think the white tie, black tie issue is entirely ridiculous. I don't dress retro to be "Formal," I dress retro because it LOOKS GOOD. In my opinion, looking good is far more important and personal than following a bunch of BS rules made by snobby, stuck-up people designed to make...

    What are you listening to?

Ever since I found jazz-on-line.com on here I've been going on a vintage music binge. :D Cuckoo in the clock - Glenn Miller http://www.jazz-on-line.com/a/mp3c/BLU033609.mp3 This song is great. The muted horn sections are simply stunning and the singing is great. A Zoot suit - Kay Kyser...

How popular is the fedora in 2011? Are hats seeing a resurgance finally?

I go to The University of Mississippi and I think I'm the only guy crazy enough to wear a fedora there. I know a couple guys that wear the cheap stingy brim trilbies (and I literally mean only two, and they're twins for Christ's sake :eusa_doh:), but to their credit they wear the more...

Sunglasses that work well with a Fedora?

I wear round shade with my fedora, if only because I want to be different. ;) They're actually a shaded version of my regular glasses, I ordered them from the same place.

    The Curse of Indiana Jones

Frankly I've never minded being compared to Indiana Jones, I've always liked the movies and they are partly to blame for the color choice of my fedora. The comparison that really gets on my nerves are the inspector gadget ones. I don't know why, but being compared to that doofus makes me grind...

    What are you wearing today??

Nice one Tom! :D Anyway this is just what I wore for church today. Forgive the piles of junk in the background of the second one, I got back from a WWII reenactment a while ago and haven't bothered to tidy up yet.:eusa_doh:

    Show us your TIES

I designed another tie. I need to go go out and get some more real ties sometime.

    Show us your TIES

Here's one I picked up at an antique store: It's a bit busy for my tastes, but it is quite nice. :D I'm not sure if this is the proper thread for it, but if you don't mind I would kind of like to show off some the designs I've drawn for my ideal tie. Let me know what you think! Actually, I...

    WWII Songs

You can't get much better than American patrol by Glenn Miller :D http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oUgh6ivoQYc As for British songs, I love Flanagan and Allen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_TGPYYqdzM (It says Henry Hall but the vocals are Flanagan and Allen, Henry provides the orchestra)...

    Pomade

I'm starting to run low on the current stuff I have so I've been thinking of trying out something new. Right now the top three contenders are Brylcreem, Suave Groom & Clean, or Dapper-man. Right now I'm leaning towards G&C because of the price and some of the recommendations, but both...

"It's Indiana Depp! Johnny... in brown fedora and leather jacket."

Am I the only one who thinks Depp looks ridiculous in that photo? I mean, the combination of pinstriped pants with a vest and a leather jacket clashes like two freight trains hitting eachother head-on in my opinion. I also find his scarf really incongruous. Maybe it's just me.[huh]

    What are you wearing today??

That picture is priceless, you should make it your avatar. :D

"It's Indiana Depp! Johnny... in brown fedora and leather jacket."

Indiana looks cool as usual, but Depp? He looks...:twitch: No, I'm afraid I don't see the resemblance.

If you said you looked like one celebrity from the Golden Era...

The only celebrity I can think of off-hand that I look like is Glenn Miller, but I think the glasses make the comparison a bit too easy. :p What do you think?

    What are you listening to?

Recently I've been listening to a lot of Kay Kyser and Glenn Miller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aEdsDq33DpQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTAIjurglWI

Hot dang, I wish I could get jackets like those nowadays for that cheap :D

    Hair cuts

It's Softsheen Carson maximum hold pomade. It isn't period by any stretch of the imagination, but it holds well and is pretty much scentless. After I run out of this stuff I'll porbably invest in some more era correct pomade.

    Hat size poll

I wear a 7 3/4, I can't even imagine trying to wear a 7, either the hat or my head would explode.

    Hair cuts

I got my hair cut recently, I went with short on the sides and back and longer on the top. I'm really going for the 1940's look. The only thing I'm not sure about is the best way to style my hair. I generally just keep combing it until it looks good, which can take some time and be...
