Just arrived, fresh from the Beaver Brand auction, via eBay...
Since it was in my size -- a size 8! -- and since I didn't have a hat in navy color yet....
Seller asked $50. Got it for $37.50.
Today, I was a volunteer fire lookout in the Angeles National Forest. It was a bright, sunny day...so I don my Dobbs Harvey milan. (Or would a Smokey Bear campaign hat look better?)
Since I wear a size 8, I don't see lots of hats that interest me, but.....
Since I didn't have a fedora in blue, and this came from the Beaver Brand auction, I picked up this nice-looking hat for less than the $50 asking price. I will have to take my own pics and post them when the hat...
Well, after all, they ARE uniform hats.
I came across the listing while looking for "Forest Service" items. It was listed as a Forest Service hat. Oddly enough, the U.S. Forest Service only authorizes a Western-style cattleman crease Stetson hat in felt or straw...or an insignia ball...
Stratton Sheriff Style Hat
I just saw this and bought it...

I got the only size 8 that he had, but there are still others in different sizes, in case anyone is looking for something like this!
After checking the Stratton site and several other eBay...
Looks great with that sportcoat, too! Too bad the hat doesn't come in "Extra HUGE" (my size is 8!) otherwise I'd get one. They're on sale, too, at hats-plus.com
I would call this a VICTORY! I don't usually sell on eBay, but I got this Richman Brothers hat from another seller who advertised it as a size 8 -- my size! Of course, it turned out to be a 7-1/2. Well, I only paid $15.50 for the hat and I knew that I could turn it around for a profit. There...
I bought a Resistol Kitten Finish hat from one of our brethren and it's nice and soft and supple. The edge is very smoothly done, not just folded over as I've seen on some others. Then again, I'm still a bit new to this and have yet to gain experience.
I've actually got one of these--and a whole lot more! They're fun to have around the house. My wife hates when I plug them in because there's no REDIAL feature on them.
As an emergency preparedness professional, I can tell you that it's always a good idea to have a "non-powered" phone in case...
I read that the button goes into the little buttonhole on the back of your shirt collar. Remember those? I do! When I was growing up (in the 1960s), my shirts had a little button and buttonhole on the back of the collar. I could never figure out what that was for!
Well, I just got the "Legend" jacket from US Wings, but I don't know if my size will help you. I'm 6' 6" and weigh 240 lbs. Normally, I wear a 50XL suit/sportcoat. So, I ordered a XXL-Long and it fits very well.
I just got an old panama that has a small, ½" crack near the crown pinch. I found some fabric adhesive that my wife bought a while back. I haven't tried it yet, but it might be just the thing. It's clear and it dries clear, but stays flexible after it's dried. I figure if I apply it...
Biltmore Panama in a Size 8
Acting on a tip from a fellow lounger . . . I picked this up from an Etsy seller. I don't have a pic with me yet, so these are the seller's pictures:
