    Show us your hair do's....

Yes they are! I thought I had included everything then realized I didn't make that clear. The top curls are indeed standing!

    Show us your hair do's....

I've been setting regularly for about 3 years, so maybe it's just learning your hair type? I read somewhere else on this forum, and it was the turning-point in my pincurling, to keep some tension while you're rolling. I set everything but the top 6 curls flat with bobby pins and Motions foaming...

Setting Pattern Here's my setting pattern! Let's just say I'm not an art student, but I did try to be clear. :)

    Show us your hair do's....

Thank you for your kind words, ladies! I'd be all too happy to share my setting pattern. Would it be alright to post in this thread? If so I'll follow up on Friday with pictures or diagrams. :)

    Show us your hair do's....

Everyone's hair is truly gorgeous in this thread! I spent the afternoons of a good two weeks working my way through this thread. This is my everyday pincurl set. I try different things all the time and always come back to this. My hair is well past my shoulders in length but it just bounces...

Golden era sights, bars, and experiences still around in Los Angeles, California?

Greetings! I'm headed to LA for day of golden era fun in two weeks. I live about 2 hours away, so I've seen all the usual sights, and am hoping you all might know some locales that are still alive and kicking from our favorite eras! Also welcome are suggestions for best vintage shops, which...

    Hello and thick hair despair

Thank you very much, LolitaHaze! I'll give that a try :)

    Hello and thick hair despair

A bit off topic, but if you don't mind me asking LolitaHaze, what way do you roll your bangs to style them like that, and approximately how long are your bangs? I saw a photo of Ava Gardner with very similar bangs and have been trying to replicate them for a few weeks now to no avail. I'd...

What motivates you to do your beauty everyday? Lately I cant find any motivation!

My number one motivator is how I feel all dolled up, because I feel amazing! I may take a day or two off from my routine (when I know I'll just be lounging or studying) but I'll always hate feeling drab and can't wait to get back into the vintage swing of things. :)

Comments You Get When You Dress Vintage

I usually get very kind remarks - especially about my hair - and people will compare me to whatever brunette movie star they can think of, my favorite always being Bette Davis of course. As a college student I get a ton of stares, but I've gotten used to it! A month or two ago, I was browsing...

Do you use a specific setting pattern? If so, where did you find it?

Hello all! I've been scouring the Internet for a few weeks and have come up with surprisingly few results. Most of what I found were vintage beauty magazine scans. For about a year or two now I've just been setting my hair in pincurls any-which-way I felt like, and it always managed to turn...

Thank you for your kind words! :) Grant fan, that dress is marvelous.

    Show us what you've made!

Hello all! I've been working through this thread for weeks admiring everyone's handiwork. Here are my two contributions: First, this year's Easter dress from Vintage Vogue 8789 (I'm not a brat, I promise, I just had my wisdom teeth out two days prior!) And a slightly modified version of...

What would be done at a birthday party in the 1940s?

Thank you everyone for your replies! dhermann1, I've been collecting (and playing) records since I was 14 so that should be easy :) Yeps I love your idea as well, and might just do that. I've always wanted to dance at home to some 1950s dance records and this seems like the perfect reason to...

What would be done at a birthday party in the 1940s?

Hello all, I've lurked here on the Lounge for years, this is my first post! On to the subject at hand: What kinds of games would be played? Would there be a meal or just cake and ice cream? Party favors? Party hats? Decorations? My 21st birthday is coming up, so I'd like to have a few...
