For the first time in at least 6 years I left my house today without a hat or cap. I didn't realize it until I was about 15 miles from home, stopping for breakfast and reached for a hat that wasn't there. :eusa_doh:
It feels weird. :eeek:
Cheers,
Tom
This is from the Hemmings Blog. After I managed to get my jaw off the floor I thought that this was too good to not share:
For more photos and a description check out the Barrett-Jackson web site.

The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Association has declared January 23 to be National Handwriting Day. The date was chosen as it is the birthday of John Hancock, he whose bold signature on the Declaration of Independence lent itself to the term "your John Hancock" being synonymous with "your...
I received an e-mail with the link to this video about a woman in Plymouth, MI who at 101 still drives her Packard 740 Roadster. My favorite line at the end is her answer to the question "Have you lived in Plymouth all your life?" There's an article about her as well.
Enjoy!

I was running a search on the site using Google when I stumbled across the media kit for Classic Style magazine. The kit mentions having a focus group of over 3,000 members (the Lounge) that serves as "a continuous source of subscribers and demographic information."
When I considered that the...
I thought I'd share this list of old professions making a comeback. It's another one of those slide-show type of things that various news websites like to post. Amazingly, hatter is not one of them! :eusa_doh:

Time's Top 10 Things We Miss About the Mad Men Era can be found here.
I enjoyed it, thought others might as well. As for the first one, I've been saying for years that the romance is gone from air travel. ;)

Last year I picked up a Lee hatbox that once held "The Pan Am Hat by Lee". Has anyone seen or heard of such a hat?
Here's one photo of the box. I'll post it and a few more in the hat box thread.
I found an a Lee that someone else posted elsewhere (vague, huh? I'm not sure what thread...
I'm a long-time fan of Jimmy Johnson's comic strip "Arlo and Janis" so I was delighted (even if Arlo apparently isn't) that Arlo received a late Christmas gift in the form of a fedora.
Enjoy!

For fans of the unusual, here's a Dobbs that I won recently. It's not something that I could see myself wearing (what would I wear it with would be a big question) but my wife has decided that it'll be her hat and will be looking for the right outfit to wear under it. I have no idea what this...
Hatlife.com has a short commentary and the full Forbes.com article on Pamela Fields, a marketing type who is tasked with updating the Stetson image. According to the article she was the one behind the "Hat for Obama" attempt and blog. I had noticed on the blog's web site that Stetson had a deal...
The other day in the Brotherhood of the Thin Ribbon thread gtdean commented that he was going to use my comment about not remembering what all hats I had bought when his wife complains about all his hats. I light-heartedly offered to take photos for him to show his wife, and he accepted.
It...

For you stingy brim fans, I've got a dark olive Beaver Hats fedora size 7 1/8. According to the sweatband it is made with 100 percent Pure Beaver Fur. A tag inside states:

Well, it's finally up for sale, listed on eBay here.
Originally I had planned to list it here first, but decided to roll the dice instead in hopes of getting one of those outrageous prices for it. :D Of course, with the unpredictability of eBay it could go the other way, and someone...
I won a hat from Sussex Hats in New York a while back. I told Dinerman and Art I'd post photos and describe it a bit, so here it is... better late than never! ;)
It has a two-toned edge binding and ribbon. The effect is done using two different-colored ribbons.
As you can see, it's...
For some reason this morning I started wondering about why the Indiana Jones hat was the one that got a lot of people interested in wearing hats again back in the '80s, and why it's expected to cause another hat-wearing fad after the next movie comes out.
Any movie set in the '50s or earlier...
I've been watching hat auctions on ebay as many of us do to keep an eye on prices and such. Today two auctions from the same seller ended with prices that had my jaw hitting the keyboard. Though nice hats, I'm at a loss as to why these hats final prices went so high.
The first one is a Knox...
