    The tape is 5mm wide and it's 3cm between the buttons. The construction of the link is the simplest imaginable; it's literally just a piece of tape with buttons sewn onto each end. I'd probably fold the ends to avoid fraying, though.

    The chain in the neck is something that I've only ever seen in continental and Scandinavian suits, but I don't know enough about British suits of the period to say for sure.
