As with everything vintage hair related, it takes lots of practise! Honestly the more you keep doing it the better you'll get. Placement, direction of the curl and how many rows you do all give different results so just experiment or follow tutorials. Pin curls are frustrating though! My hair is...
:o You are too kind, I thought you (and Lyburnum) looked perfect too. Honestly I need all the help I can get! No need to apologise, it was a bit of a hectic/sweaty/packed/noisy night.
Yeah, they look very crispy! In the products section at the front she does mention that pomade is used in every single style so perhaps that is the reason, combined with the fact that the curls look like they need brushing out.
Lady Day - you always look as cute as a button anyway!
I just really don't like the combination of a canvas/trainer type shoe with a wedge. Those pretty flower wedges are £50, I'll wait and see if they go in the sale.
:offtopic: Great Carmen icon, I have a photo print of that up on my wall!
I like the colour as it is, perhaps try a richer shade of dark brown first before going black but of course it's totally up to you whether you take the plunge! As everybody else has suggested, definitely use semi-permanent as permanent black is a nightmare to get rid of. I had black hair for 7...
I don't think layers are necessary (LolitaHaze proves that) but depending on your hair type, thickness, length and what styles you want to achieve they may well help you greatly. I have my hair cut in a pageboy (layers starting from my chin around my face), rounded at the back with long layers...
I received mine earlier this week. The detailed pin curl and brushing of waves sections are excellent. I was disappointed to find that the vast majority of the styles used hot methods (tongs, hot rollers) as these do not work for me at all but then the book title does say 'modern techniques'...
I'm going to go against the odds here and admit that I actually like her hair! Not particularly in that photograph but I absolutely love SJP's wavy, thick, long hair because it's got so much volume. Her natural hair is very curly I think so when it's less tight it's probably been heavily styled...
For the UK ladies who are in the love with those keds, New Look and Office have some similar canvas style wedges in at the moment (without a peep toe). I think I'm the only girl on here that isn't a fan of the keds though! :p NL also have lots of high heeled brogues in the sale too.
These...
Perhaps she was shy? Shyness can often be mistaken for aloofness and can come across as being cold, without being intentional. I speak from personal experience! It depends on the individual, you can't generalise by just one person you've come across. I've met some lovely people and some not so...
I was wondering if any ladies here have tried Dermalogica? I am tempted to try some of their anti-bacterial/acne products but would like some opinions before I splash out as they are pricey. Thanks!
I must be blind as I can't seem to find a contact email on the site. I need to know how much shipping would be before I pay via Paypal. Could you pm me the email address please? :)
