    Khakis - which ones?

Cremieux is a Dillards Department Store house brand. Dillards is located mostly in the South Eastern US with a some in the Southwest and Western US. It would be interesting to see how they got to Australia wouldn't it?

    Plain-toed, brown, leather-soled Oxford?

As for the REALLY slick/plasticky look, you could try a little rubbing alcohol & soft cloth to cut through that 'painted on' looking finish and then hit them with leather conditioner. I've seen this technique recommended to cut thru similar factory finishes on Bass Weejuns.

    Elusive Tan Shoe Polish

And don't forget... Western Wear places are great for shoe/boot care products. The western wear place here in town has the best selection of shoe polish colors, and they are available in larger sized containers, as it takes more polish for a pair of boots than a pair of shoes. The people...

    Plain-toed, brown, leather-soled Oxford?

I too look forward to a review. I've considered these, but as there are no 1/2 sizes that I've been wary to order. I hate the order, return thing, I like to get it right the first time. JPH712

Do you wear your watch on your right wrist? If so, why?

Right Wrist I am VERY left handed and I wear my watch (everyday, all day) on my right wrist. Why? I absolutely do not have the dexterity with my right hand to buckle a watch strap. Plus, if I wore it on the left wrist it would seriously get banged up. JPH712

I was browsing for Spectators and found this site.

http://www.men-shoenet.com/catalog185530.html I do not recognized some of the brands, but the pricing appears very reasonable to me on some of these. JPH712

Life Looked Better In Black and White

Photos When my wife and I got married 4 years ago we used a photographer that shot all digital, which gave us the ability to choose between color, b&w and even sepia, or several other effects. The interesting thing is that we got several of the photos in color and b&w, and the black and whites...

The true story of the Bridge over the River Kwai

Been there. I've been to the site of the Bridge and to the cemetaries where the Allied dead were buried working on the railroad. Very moving that its the Thai governement is who keeps up the cemeteries, not the British, et al., and they do so in appreciation for their deaths and the Allies...

    A Civil Discourse About Reenacting

My Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and G-G-Grandfather I've considered reenacting/living history impressions from time to time based upon 3 generations of grandfathers who served. My Grandfather was 4th Infantry Division @ Utah Beach. My Great Grandfather was an officer in the 1st Alabama...

What did your grandparents pack for personal protection in the Golden Era?

You'd be surprised You would be surprise at how easy it is to conceal fairly large frame handguns. I'm not a big person 5'8", 170lbs and on more than one occasion I've carried a full size 1911 on my person, and not in heavy coat weather either. I've got a buddy that carries a Para-Ord Warthog...

Jack Purcells, Khakis, and what socks?

Wool alternatives... I am mildly allergic to wool. If I were to wear wool socks my feet would feel swollen, like after a Trans-Pacific plane flight. JPH712

Jack Purcells, Khakis, and what socks?

Let's just say I'm planning on the combination of a Lansky Bros. bowling shirt, khakis and Jack Purcells. What would be the 'right' socks to wear with this? If you've never had the chance to talk with Mr. Lansky at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis you've missed a real treat. JPH712

What did your grandparents pack for personal protection in the Golden Era?

I've stumbled across a nice Remington-Rand 1911 Govt model, mfg 1943 that i picked up for a song....and I'm thinking about having a local gunleather guy make me a 1950's style shoulder holster. Have you seen the Bruce Willis movie "Last Man Standing"? His character carries two 1911s in...
