Well sorry, i thought you perfectly knew the hat world and the manufacturer's offering.
For instance, I thought that it had become common knowledge that anyone willing to have something close to Indiana Jones' hat had to turn to the Akubra Federa IV Deluxe OC.
Here the hat looks close to an...
Yes, but what specific model is it before being distressed or are there any that look similar to your knowledge ?
It makes me think of an Akubra, but I'm not sure
Hello,
I’m a newcomer to this bar
I have always wanted to journal. There are thoughts, million of them, in my head on a regular basis. I just never know where and how to put them down. So I learned to channel them after more than a decade of journalism.
Yet, I would love to take up...
Hello,
Not sure if this has been discussed before
A few weeks ago, I saw the tv show 1923. I fell in love with Brandon Sklenar's hat.
Can you help me identify it or point me to a similar looking hat.
OK Fine then
Then should I have a cheap Panama, i'd rather play around with it and test stuff.
it surely won't sound outrageous if i ask you how I could achieve a distressed style like the photo below for a cheap panama hat :
I know crazy people burn fur felt hats !
But how do you achieve...
It was around 80€. it's a mid quality regular toquilla hat
It's like there is a noise when I press the brim downward for instance, as if the straw was a bit dry.
A bit like when you sit o sorrel chair (well obviously less creaky than that)
Hat creaking : what can I do ?
I got this brand new Panama hat.
I received it yesterday.
However, it seems to be "creaking" a lot.
I steamed it gently and spray water on it.
It is a bit better but the straw does not seem as flexible as on my other Panama hats which are astonishingly silent
Is...
Hello,
Î would like to dye a Panama hat
I’m wondering what is the best method to achieve this
is’there a specific process to follow ? Like should i steam the toquilla first ?
is there a particular product that I should be using or that you would recommend ?
thank you
Hello,
Been wearing this one for a week now
Bought a Bailey of Hollywood from eBay a few years ago. Had to customize it a bit
What do you think ?
I'm now thinking of buying a more formal / dressy panama hat for the summer evenings
Hello,
Thanks for you reply. i just got one on Amazon.
By any chance, do you know how long it takes to enlarge - or "unshrunk" - the sweatband ?
Are we talking days? weeks?
Thanks
Hello,
I used to be in hats a few years ago. And I kind of miss them.
I was going through them and flat ironed a few of them.
The one shown in the picture below is my fav, it was handmade by Esther Weis.
Now when taking the hat, it looks perfectly fine
But when I wear it, the brim loses its...
Thanks for your replies !
I knew that was lots of people who like diversity !
I have never come to the point where I like several two hats equally. For me when you reach the top, it's hard putting a hat on to match my daily style when you know there is another one at home that you truly prefer...
This topic might already have been discussed but I was wondering something about TFL members.
I have about 12 hats. I started with trilbies of various types and went for longer flat brims and medium height crowns. Now I have a specific custom fedora-style hat. I basically matured my style to...
I have one specific prefered hat that I wear all the time (see profile pic). It's a custom Esther Weiss fedora in beige. It's not even Indy brown ! And you know what I heard once ? David Crockett !
They not only mixed up Indiana Jones and David Crockett, the latter has a coonskin cap !
I mean...
Hello,
I have a panama onto which I put a ribbon with a knot and a small plane ornament on the left side. (See photo below)
I want to place a small feather and I was thinking of placing it on the left side to create a sort of symmetry but I’m wondering whether I should just place it on the...
