Seemed like a good idea for this time of year. What are some ways the Forum brings the Golden Age into the holiday season? For us:
-A Christmas Story
-It's A Wonderful Life
-Charlie Brown
-Several others
-One somewhat non-conformist thing we do is we turn on every last light we have on...

I'm listening to Jack Benny on a station somewhere in the neighborhood of 3.2 Mc, program called "Classic Radio Theater".... Nothing like OTR on, well, an old time radio. What do you have, and what are you listening to on it?

It's been an... interesting summer, to say the least.
Non-select for CPO, again.
Tried to change rates to Mineman, denied.
Tried to go on extended active duty orders, no joy.
And, Chattanooga. I drill there. Enough said.
So, here I am back. Let's set the Wayback Machine for about 1947...
More I wear it, the less I like my straw Stetson OR. Too tall of a crown and a little broad-brimmed for me. What I really want is a straw hat with c. 1965-75 OR dimensions; stingier brim and lower crown.
I'm weird, I know.... It's just that a "classic" OR makes me almost look like as much of...
Broke on the news this morning. Norma Zimmer, Lawrence Welk's last (and longest tenured far as I know) Champagne Lady, passed of "natural causes" last night. Following Youtube clips should suffice to demonstrate just what an awesome Voice she had. We have lost a very significant connection to...

He was featured in an article on Tennessee Crossroads, a travelogue about interesting people and places here in the Volunteer State. Not sure if there's any way to watch it online, but NPT (Nashville Public TV) might have it online...
It's medium gray and was on Epay. I will have to rebash it as I actually LIKE a cattleman crease with a snap brim, but I will post pix once I get it. Can I post a link tot he now-defunct Epay auction?

For this puropse, we'll call "early" John Wayne's debut up to about 1940, Middle/WW2 would be 1940-@1965 or so (the time of his lung operation) and Late would be 1965-1976. Waddayathink? Which era Duke is the best Duke> B-westerns and Stagecoach? She Wore a Yellow Ribbon, Big Jim McClain and...
OK, I have a project for the Lounge. Fixing to get my OR refurbished by a fellow Lounger, but I need some pix of Ike in his OR so the hatter can have something to work with. Unfortunately, all I can find is Ike lookin' over the YB-52 and it's not that good a pic. Any help is appreciated.
Been looking and only found ONE place that has them locally. Is Stetson getting out of the straw OR business? If so, is there such a thing as an OR clone in straw?

The OR is one of the more prolific hats of the 20th century. I never realized how many people wore them, adn am just curious to see how many famous people have been seen in an OR. Here's the few I can think of offhand:
Truman
Ike
LBJ...
Finally got me one and the brim rolled up a mite in shipping... I have been resting her on the brim inverted and letting gravity have her perfect work, but it is still a bit more rolled up on the sides than I care for. I like the turned up brim and the 'cattleman bash', but would prefer the hat...
New hereabouts, and am wanting me one of these. I am of the understanding that several companies made hats that were almost identical to the OR. I like the OR, but am having a time justifying $125-150 for a hat with the Queen (wife)... Been trying to find me one of the lookalikes with no joy...
