Looking good there Seb Lucas!
Aero russet goat = tremendously underrated hide.
I've seen it dismissed on here but I think it's one of those hides that really has to be seen a couple years in to appreciate. The consensus is that goat doesn't show patina but patina can take several forms...
Well Worf, any company name that could also function as the name of a brand of personal lubricant will run that risk.
I quite liked the Panther model, or at least I would if it didn't have that ugly squared off collar.
Noticed a couple of their jackets on the 'bay and I thought 'Hang on, these are in good nick for old fashioned British bike clobber, it's usually pretty bashed up'.... well, a google search later and I discover that they are a current operation making some nice looking Lewis/Highwayman/Mascot...
Just scored an Aero no name 1756 in russet goat from a fellow FL member. Very reasonably priced and by some miracle the fit is dead on. My first A2 and I couldn't be happier with it...
I have a bit of a weakness for Schott naked cowhide in black and good old Aero heavy FQHH in brown. A2 wise I think.... I like russet or seal goat once it's been really broken in.
I saw a kid no older than 18 wearing what was either an Aero Highwayman or a very decent clone (Sam Walker, Cirrus or Schott most likely?) the other day. Wasn't just the cut, the hide looked substantial. Quite freaked me at the time.
Edward, Sid Vicious was mostly pictured wearing a Perfecto style jacket although whether it was a Schott or not I don't know. He defo wore something similar to a Highwayman which was covered in studs but I think it was a Lewis Dominator. There's even a pic of him wearing a two tone biker jacket.
I have handled samples of the Milwaukee chrome steer and I can understand very well why you chose it. It's superb stuff. I noticed that while it's heavy it will soften up very nicely with wear. Good choice all round and lovely jacket.
It's not a dubious idea at all. Your skin oils and sweat are slightly acid. They will degrade for example the interior mechanisms of firearms over time if not properly maintained. For all of leather's wonderful properties it's not tougher than steel.
I paid just under half price for my HWM and it still made my eyes water a bit. I love the thing but I don't baby it. In fact, the thing I'm most wary of is getting it nicked. Woe betide the fool who tried....
My other leather is Schott and I'm with Seb on this one, I enjoy it equally to the...
There's often variation inside the same panel, let alone between panels on the same jacket. My pea coat has all sorts of different grained areas. All part of the development of the jacket's soul....
