I like piddling about with wood and since I had a 2 foot long log from a cedar tree, I decided to be creative. I made two (one foot long each) "whatevers"...
I've decided to be brave and open myself up for opinions. Good or bad, I do enjoy the outlet...
I use Drywall tape/paper. It comes with a fold line already in place. I cut off the length of section I want and fold in half. Fits perfectly behind the band.
I discovered that store in my first trip to Perth, Australia not too long ago. It is my favorite place to go when over there! Thankfully, I'll be back in April. :)
Last I remember, he said he was working quite a bit outside of doing hats while he waited for more hat business to pick back up. He mentioned at the time he was doing most hat work and returning calls over the weekend.
Maybe that is still the case.
Rebashing a western can be done...I converted an old western last year. As long as you measure correctly, trimming the brim is easy.
I say turn it into something you will wear!

I purchased an Akubra Riverina last year when they were on sale from outback outlet. I really like the hat but I'm thinking the brim is too wide for my face. Especially given the slight taper to the crown.
I don't have a problem trimming the brim but I would hate to do it without maybe...
When I purchased a vintage Gillette double edge safety razor I placed entire razor in boiling water for several minutes. I also used an old tooth brush and q tips with a bleach water solution to rub it down further. This was on the razor itself as I purchased new blades of course.

I was in Fort Worth on business not too long ago and drove down to see Jimmy. Seems to me the drive was about an hour. Well worth it in my opinion but I didn't consider an hour drive that far.
