Thanks everybody. I will give it a try. So coffee gives pretty much the same effect?
Mario, can you post pictures of your off white garments that you colored using the process?
By the way, the material of what I want to color is 100% cotton.
Thanks!
Thanks. Yes, the recipe I was talking about was what the costumer designers use. I'm just wondering how much of it I should use. I don't want it to look like it's just dirty, so the question is how much is too much. I'm also wondering if it will come out in every wash or if it's something more...
Hi guys,
I seem to remember there was some trick to get white cotton shirts to become an off-white color. Something with rinsing or washing with tea or similar. Anybody knows a recipe? I googled and also searched the forums but didn't find anything.
Thanks in advance.
Well, I would definitely lift my hat for her (Secretary, Executive Assistant or whichever is the proper term), but to take the hat off already in the hall/corridor or in her room (which is right outside mine and I have to go through it to get into mine) somehow doesn't seem all that mandatory...
Thanks Puzzicato.
Sorry about the generalization, just didn't think it was necessary to use the proper term, which is longer, but in this case Puzzicato is right and the position I'm talking about is actually Executive Assistant. :)
So do you agree with Puzzicato that it would be ok to...
Shoes are black, suit is navy pinstriped.
I had looked at that link but they don't have a light gray hat.
I'm not really fond of black hats reason why I was thinking of going with gray. Just not sure if gray with a gray band is too fancy for a business suit.
.
I would like to get a Homburg to go with a navy pinstripe suit but I don't want to break the bank. What are my options? I'm looking at a Christy at the moment as it seems to be affordable. Are there other options?
I did some research and went through the homburg nation thread but most hats seem...
Thanks for the answers.
Going back to the secretary (yes, a lady), if all you are doing is coming in your office and signing some papers for the day and leaving right away, possibly not even sitting down at our desk, should the hat still come off?
Lets say the hypothetical situation where...
You always hear how gray and brown don't go together, but I was watching The Untouchables the other day and De Niro was wearing a medium gray suit with a brown coat which looked to be cashmere and either a very light gray fedora or maybe it was actually a white hat. But the brown coat over the...
I have been rethinking the hat thing and maybe I can get a cheaper homburg to go with the navy suit. I was thinking a light gray with gray ribbon, any opinions?
Also, can anybody recommend and affordable homburg? Saw some wool godfather hats on ebay but I'm not sure if they would be alright...
I take the joke is because of the tie color?
As I said the tie is not to be taken in consideration, just the suit. The tie has not yet been chosen, so feel free to suggest colors and patterns.
The pocket square, if there will be one, will definitely not be red either. Probably white, IF...
The 40s went through a lot of change in fashion. Post war and late 40s will have a difference from early 40s or 1940 itself. I tend to associate the baggy stuff you mention with late 40s. But I don't think it was ever baggy as zoots.
By the way, the tie is not to be considered, only the...
I have a question about hat etiquette.
In an office building, its ok to keep your hat on in the elevator and in the corridor, but should you take it off once you enter the reception or secretary room or only when you enter your office room? The office would be your own office meaning only you...
Just came across this posted on the forums:
Narrow lapels and button spacing.
Of course is Star Trek and I have no idea if they were real vintage suits, which I somewhat doubt, or were custom made but inspired by real era suits or were just 1960s interpretations of what the era suits would...
The thing is we are sort of limited to what the costume department already have. So besides fedoras of many styles like short and medium brims, thin and thick ribbons in light, medium and dark gay and also brown, black, olive and fawn, although I wouldn't think those colors would go well, these...
Thanks for the link. I will check it out.
Yeah, that was my friends point, that he thought this suit is too flashy for a businessman because the stripes are too thick or pronounced saying pimps and mafiosi were the ones who normally wore flashy suits and ties while businessmen would have...
