    Chinese hats

What is the deal with these hats? Is there no market no matter how niche it might be that the Chinese aren't trying to corner? I hadn't seen these hats before now. I knew that there were cheap Chinese hats on the market, but was not sure what they were like.

    Strange weaving

Here are some pics of a panama I own (cuenca I'm pretty sure). The center of the hat doesn't have the typical rosette. The straw seems to be brought together in the center in an X formation. Has anyone else seen this type of weaving pattern? I also included some other photos. This hat is as...

    Panama hat liner

Hello all, Is it feasible to put some kind of liner in a panama hat? I tend to sweat a lot and my hat touches, ever so lightly, the top of my head. I'm bald on top so the sweat transfers a bit to the top of the hat. I want to keep it from staining or ruining the straw. Any suggestions...

    Sherlock Holmes Hat

Hey everyone, I like the brim treatment on this hat from the "Voice of Terror" (1942). I can't decide though if this is a Homburg with the front turned down or not. Any thoughts? Lucas

    Millinery Going Out of Business

Hey all, I was in NYC yesterday roaming around the garment district. I came across Manny's Millinery Supply Co., which has been around since 1948. They are now going out of business. They are selling every thing: hat stands, blocks, materials, felt blanks, etc. I was told that they will...

ID type of blocking on a panama

I was wondering if anyone can tell what type of blocking this is? I can't seem to find any block types that describe it. It is not entirely an optimo, but it does look similar. Thanks.

    Newbie - Hatbox Modifications

Hello, I'm new to the list, but I've been looking around for quite sometime. I wanted to share some photos of modifications that I made to a hatbox. My wife and I travel a lot and I have found carrying hats a little cumbersome. So as an avid backpacker and someone who likes to ride his...
