I recently acquired a few nice turn-of-the-century men's garments (give/take 20yrs) and hope to list them on eBay this coming week. This is my most exciting find:

I picked this up from a thrift store just because I thought my son would like to store his stuff in it. After I got it home, I decided to research the name on the trunk... and of course came up with the man portrayed by Robert Redford in "A Bridge Too Far".
On the front it states he is a Lt. but...
I just came across this website and thought I'd share. Prolific 1950s cookbook author Ruth Chier Rosen sells new-old-stock copies of her books that have been in storage for decades. Some of the titles:
"Have Cookbook Will Marry" circa 1957
"Pardon My Foie Gras" circa 1956
"A Guide to Pink...
I posted more photos of this WW2 US Navy bridge coat under the "Show Us Your Militaria" thread.
Can I get suggestions re: the serviceman's name on this label?
Thanks!
Here in Detroit, being so close to the border, we have access to Canadian television. I watched the premiere of "X Company" and quite liked it. Was anyone else able to catch it?

I'm thinking these are pretty old but would love some opinions, please. If you look very closely, the font on the label is more curlicue than a similar label used in the 50s. The trousers are chamois leather, not fabric. The buttons are silk-covered and on the back is printed S. & U. KOBENHAVN...
This was taped on the inside lid of an old US army footlocker at a local thrift store. No, I didn't buy the footlocker because the outside had been painted bright green (the inside was still original), the price was $25, and it was missing the tray.
I love II, 2.: "One picture in center of...
This is an odd one...
I've been googling "B. Teller Vienna" and I'm not coming up with much (helpful) info. This suit is made from a cream twill or duck. It looks like a 30s/40s style but I'm thinking it was more likely made in the 60s or possibly 70s due to the labeling and trouser leg style...
How about a thread for members to post freebies?
I haven't seen a thread of this sort yet though, granted, I'm still really new here. Occasionally, I have stuff I no longer need/want and I'd like to offer it here before I donate it to my local charity. If anyone is interested, post or PM me...
I can't be the only one! What have you purchased that came with a hidden treasure? I've found old coins deep in pockets and gorgeous vintage brooches pinned on lapels of coats but I think one of my most exciting surprises was a WW2 Wrigley's Gum poster by collected poster artist Otis Shepard...

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, Playboy Motor Car Corporation was a Buffalo, New York-based automobile company, established in 1947. The company only produced 97 cars before going bankrupt in 1951. Goodwill's auction website has some original photos and bulletins from this company up for...
I received some helpful information from some members here and now the hat is up for sale:
