    Shoes for work

I second Dansko -- I have a pair of black Dansko Professional closed-back clogs and adore them. They have no-slip bottoms, which certainly helps. I have to visit a chiropractor regularly for lower back pain and have had surgery before on one foot...it's no fun to admit, but a good, sturdy...

    Best primer for oily skin?

I have very oily skin and use MAC Prep + Prime Face, though it does have silicone. However, they do have a Prep + Prime transparent powder for setting/priming. Perhaps that doesn't have silicone?

Ladies, what scents do you like on your men?

What an interesting read! I too really love the smell, but because my dad wore it, too, and I'm nostalgic like that...but absolutely a no-no for my hubs to ever wear. That just would freak me out. My grandpa once bought some Eternity for Men and I made a bit of a face when I went to give him a...

    Quality T-Shirts

My husband likes the Calvin Klein brand. Nordstrom and Macy's should both have them. They're a bit pricey, but he likes them for better dressed-up days because they fit well and seem to hold up. Good luck!

    Saddle shoes

Thank you all very much for the tips! I thought about getting some of that shoe stretching spray, but it sounds like I can give the water/alcohol combo a try! Also going to keep my eyes open for the foam, since I've never heard of that before. Fingers crossed I can find a cobbler! Otherwise...

    Saddle shoes

So dismayed...I won a vintage pair of black and white saddles on EB the other day and, while the length fits, they are too snug at the width, right at the top of the black saddle. Tried my first round of alcohol and a broom handle to work some ease in, but still not getting the results I want...

    Before and After Vintage

Every one of you ladies look stunning. Honestly, this thread couldn't have been read at a better time in my life. You've inspired me to stop feeling so sorry for myself, being so lazy, begin taking better care of myself, and adding a bit of care into my everyday looks. Though I don't don the...

    How tall are you, Ladies?

Oh I know, isn't it a bear? Petite trousers that still need hemming are maddening! I'm barely 5'1" on a good day. My mom is shorter than I, so I knew I was in for it when I stopped growing taller at 12. I rather like it now, though :)

    Whats in YOUR winter wardrobe??

I'd love to find a few good sweaters, too Diva. I've had enough of the pilly, ill-fitting few I have. Also, I've started looking through all my patterns to make a few good skirts, too, and am considering a pair or two of trousers (though I've never made a trouser, so it could be an adventure.)...

    Show us your vintage patterns!

Just the other day, I got this cutie (my size and 2 cute dresses for one money? I'm pleased as punch!) (*edited to get the image to properly embed!)

    J Peterman-yay or nay?

I have a silk printed JP dress and my DH has a great khaki button-up jacket. The jacket fits him perfectly, but my dress was beyond long for my very short 5'1" frame. I had a seamstress take it up by about 8" and now it's grand. The quality of both items is very high, though I can't imagine...

    High Waisted Pants & Jeans!

SO completely cute! You just sold me on the idea of making my own from that pattern..which I have on my birthday wish list. Let's hope the hubs spoils me with patterns again this year :) How's the yardage on the pattern? I'm going to start hunting for the perfect weight denim! I do know, if...

    1940's overalls

Thank you for all the great links. I've been keeping my eye out for a pair over overalls for awhile now. I knew of the Freddies' pair, but wasn't sure if my 5'1" 140 lb frame could pull them off, either. So happy to hear I'm not the only short, curvy gal wanting some! I'm def. going to consider...

    The Powder Room's Etsy Directory

I'm chiming in with my Etsy shop! What a great idea -- can't wait to check out all the other Etsy shops, too. Mine is Hello Magpie, featuring classic, functional, eco-friendly and vintage goods. Though I try to focus mainly on home + kitchen things, I've been planning on sneaking in some...
